I signed up to be notified by Midway when they got the new Hornaday Leverevolution bullets in stock. Was notified and immediatly ordered a box of the 45, 200gr bullets. Got them today.

Loaded some 45 auto rim and love them.

Loaded some 45 Colt. OOOPPPPSSSS!!!!

They too long to fit and work in my M625-6.

Tried in my Colt SAA. same thing. Guess I can use them only in my 45acp or 45 auto rim.

If I file off the red point, down to the jacket, then they will work and I may end up doing that.

Best laid plans of mice and men etc etc

I was thinking of getting some for my 500. I bought some factory rounds that had that bullet but they were kickers, I though I would try some but I wondered about seating them, and getting a good crimp. Can you? Is my question. They are pretty cool, they look like torpedos

I don't have an OAL issue in the 500 but I can see what you mean in the calibers you mentioned.

In my 45 auto rim, with a good roll crimp, they work great. I would suspect in your 500 they would also.

The 45's have 2 cannalures, 1 close to the base and 1 close to the ogive. I have used the Speer reloading date for the Speer 200gr hollow point, however the OAL is quite a bit more. I would interested in knowing how they work in your 500.

Slim,

You can probably use those bullets in your .45 Colt, if you use .45 Scofield brass, or you can get some Starline .45 Cowboy brass that duplicates .45 AR, but with the Colt rim on it.

Slim,

Here is where you go from a "reloader" to a "handloader"!

If you can reduce the charge and shorten the OAL you may have a winner yet.

What is the load recipe you are using now? That will determine just where you can go with those bullets.

Just as a reference, here is what I did with some other type of bullets in the 45ACP.
The points are still too hard to use in a lever gun, so I plan on getting some of the Leverevolution bullets for those loads.

I'd like to get some to load for my 460XVR. But, I'm not going to touch them without first getting load info from Hornady or any powder MFG. At the 460 pressures, I'm not about to assume I can substitute any other bullet with this one. I'm to worried about seating depth vs. powder charge, rather how much room is left in the case with the Hornady bullet vs another 200 gr bullet. I think this will greatly affect pressures?

I've emailed Hornaday about reload data but no answer yet. They have 2 different 45 cal bullets available. I don't know what to tell you other than use your own best judgement. I felt safe using the Speer 200gr GDHP load date in both cases but 460? I just don't know and like you, I am interested in load data from Hornaday in regards to powder charge and seating depth.

Update:::::::

After loading these in various 45 cals, I have come to the conclusion that I am going to save my money. To me, a total waste of time and money.

$23 for a box of 50 + shipping? Speer GD's are just as good and good enuf for me.
