Anybody have a recommendation for a lightweight tactical vest? I have a "full boat" vest, but it is too cumbersome. I need something to wear to the range that has pockets for 2 to 4, 30 round magazines, pockets for a few pistol magazines, and not a lot more. I appreciate your help.

I’d recommend a slim battle belt and then 2-3 combination rifle/mag pouches. HSGI has a slim belt and pouches. There are several other less expensive brands available. Google “slim battle belt” and “magazine pouches.” Even though the pouches are designed for larger caliber rifles, there shouldn’t be a retention issue.

The other nice thing about a belt is that you can mount/carry a variety of other things to the molle webbing.

You’ll need a good quality belt to loop through the carrier. I’d recommend a cobra type belt.

Thanks for your reply. I will investigate your recommendations. I had not thought of just using a utility type belt instead of a vest. Thanks!

check out the condor mcr5 chest rig; has 3 double-mag ar-style pockets, with 6 pistol mag pockets in front of those...

I am assuming that you aren’t looking for body armor. Did you Try 5.11 Tactical?

If you want something super minimalist for warm weather, maybe use a fishing vest. Patagonia has fancy gear and many other folks have fly fishing gear...
Hang Tight! Routing to checkout...

Thanks for the additional suggestions. I will take a look at both of them.
