Anyone using this newer powder for 240gr. bullets in their 44Mag? I've always had great results with H-110 for my 240gr. power loads, but I am curious about this powder for this application. I recently picked up a pound of Lil Gun for 221 Fireball loads in a Rem 700, but if this stuff beats H-110 for 44Mag apps, I'm all ears.

It tends to do as well or better ( alot of the time) than H-110 with bullets heavier than 240's, like the GD 270's and on up. I use it in my .475 Linebaugh, and it does excellent. Even though it's a much more powerful round, it uses powders pretty much in line with the .44 mag, and hot .45 Colt loads, just more of it to push heavier bullets at a little higher speed range.

Dan,
I use it for bullets in the 240gr range too. Mostly in my carbines. I have two Marlin 1894 rifles. One with a 20"barrel and the other with a 24".

With Winchester JHP or Remington JHP/JSP I am getting good results up to 1800fps with Lil' Gun. What I like about it is that there is less pressure doing so. The slower powder really takes advantage of the longer barrel and accuracy is great.

Haven't used it in the M629 5" yet, still snowing up here!

I know that H110/W296 is supposed to be the go to powder for the 44mag. I got over the need to have fireballs long ago though!

With the 240 grainers outta my PC M629, when it comes to accuracy, H110 still outshoots Lil' Gun. All of my load manuals also show more pressure created by Lil' Gun at similar velocities for a 240 grainer outta a .44. I do use Lil' Gun with 300 grainers in my .44. I also use Lil' Gun for .357 and .460.
