So back on Palm Sunday LnL comes down with the flu? Nope! I'm still sick and it's something deeper! Achey, fever, night sweats, no appetite and lost weight.
So my Dr. gets the ball rolling with blood tests, exrays and cat scans and whatever, he's good and he's my shooting / gun buddy ! ;)
Everything comes back with no signs of cancer which made me very happy but it seems that I have an infection in the lining where my former lung was. Okkkk so doc starts me on antibiotics but they aren't working? Next step! Biopsy cat scan guided, drain extra fluid and check tissue!
Now this is where it gets good,,,go to my local wonderful hospital to their major exray department. Get all prepped up lying on the table and the Anesthetic starts to flow right down my arm and nobody caught this, I just thought it was the drug rush? The anesthesiologist missed the fact that this was a faulty port and was leaking!
Well any way the good doctor goes on to performs his procedure and I felt every stick into my former lung cavity! Hey doc, am I suppose to feel any of this, Dr./ Nope Me/ But I am!
Well that's how that went! No apologies! :roll-eyes Now the anesthesiologist was very appologetic, the way my arm was positioned she never saw it and she didn't do the original stick!
So now my Dr. confers with Infectious Disease people and decide I need a super duty antibiotic but if that don't work I needed to be admitted to the hospital for a further biopsy and drainage of that lung fluid. Will be given interveinious antibiotics and other drugs needed.
So today my Dr. calls and wants me at the hospital ASAP today for this procedure and I'm coming home from my daughters in MD. :D
Granddaughter had a dance recital I would not miss!:D
So everything was set and I was already pre administered at noon, I get here at 3pm and it is now 10:30 PM and I'm still sitting in an observation room waiting for a regular room watching the Hockey game that the Pens are losing!
Such a Compentent hospital operation!

Don't want to scare you, but I just lost a friend who came down with a cold, turned into pneumonia, and then into ARDS, (Adult Respiratory Distress Syndrome). Admission to the hospital till the end was 9 days.

You listen to them Doctors and ask questions. We've lost too many good people.

Prayers on the way.

I was sittin' here, trying to decide whether or not to hit the "Like" button on your OP...but just figured I'd reply instead.

What an ordeal...I feel for you. But you apparently feel okay enough to fool around on an Internet forum, so all is not lost.

I hope you get this problem resolved as fast as possible. It can't be a pleasant thing to undergo.

Keep us posted, because I'm positive there are a bunch of us who'll be thinking of you tonight.

Get well, okay?

Thanks everyone for the thoughts, I've been dealing with it the best I can.
It hasn't been anything to me more than an inconvenience except at the beginning when I was really sick. Now it's just being tired all the time (low hemglobin count) short of breath, just a PITA for now that needs to be cured and goes away.....;)

What really annoys me is that this hospital thinks you are here at their convenience, At this time I'm still waiting for a room.
Very poor operation but I can't speak more highly of the care givers,,,it's the admins that need to go!

And the Penguins lost!

I hope everything works out for you. Just remember the doctors are " practicing medicine". Ask direct and to the point questions, your paying the bill. I learned the hard way with my son, started with pneumonia and ended up with MRSA. Don't want to scare ya but put them on the spot, nothing gets me madder then when a Doc gives you a vague answer or beats around the bush. Prayers sent out and hopefully you'll be back out shooting in no time.

Anybody else have other bad outcomes to share?
LNL, my best regards to you and I hope for a speedy recovery.

Ugg I truly feel for you. I too am a frequent flyer at hospitals.Been there long term guest too ( over a month sometimes) Been that missed vein guy too. That end up being infection. praying all goes well.

A very scary and sobering statistic states that nearly one million Americans die each year do to medical mistakes. These run the gambit from honest mistakes to out and out medical malpractice. It is why if you go to the hospital and you think something is questionable, speak up! It's much better to P.O. a doctor or nurse than to suffer the consequence of a mistake.

My daughter carries a printout of the vital information about her medical history, and I carry an electronic version. It's amazing (from a gad prospective) how many times the hospital records are missing info or have the wrong info, even though she might have been there only a week before. Make a condensed version of your medical history and give a copy to a friend or loved one in the event something ever happens to you where you are unable to respond for yourself (which is why I carry her records on my phone). Not only will it aid medical personnel in treating you, it could easily save your life.

Hope things normalize for you and you get the care you need, and it is successful!
