Bare Arms Gun Range and the adjacent restaurant, Bombshells Burgers and Bar-B-Q's burned this afternoon. On 5th street, just south of Huntington, WV. A shame. Popular indoor range. I go there at least once a month, and have bought several handguns from them. They have (had) a very deep stock of all major brands, and probably tens of thousands rounds of ammunition.

That's a shame. Did the fire start in the restaurant…?

That's unfortunate. Having a gun shop attached to a restaurant just doesn't seem like a good idea, somehow.

Local news is now saying the fire was in the shooting range. I'm here saying that how do you set fire to a shooting range? It's two big rooms, both concrete boxes with foot-thick walls. Shooting tracers on the rifle side? The two business sides are well separated by a long hallway with bathrooms on one side (re: lots of water). The building is a concrete box with lumber internals. A gun store needs thick walls, even with a gourmet burger restaurant on one side.

That is a shame not only for the owners but for the shooters. Not too many good ranges around.

Almost a year to the day, yesterday the shootimg range portion of Bare Arms caught fire - again. This time they think it was welding sparks from repairs being made to the roof of the rebuilt, but not yet open, indoor range.

The shooting range is essentially a separate building, made of concrete walls, connected only at the steel doored lobby entrance to the lanes, behind the gun store and restaurant. After cleanup, the restaurant and gun store will probably open again, but it's going to be a problem to rebuild the range again.
