I have 3 s&w 44 magnums without locks and 2 44 magnums and 1 357 with locks . Please explain the dislike of the locks other than looks. All my guns have good triggers no problems with any of them. Also since i am new to the forum please explain what you are talking about when you are discussing mim triggers. I have really enjoyed reading the posts and am trying to increase my ability to understand everyone. Thank you from a newbie in deridder la.:)

:) I think it is mostly the idea that they are forcing
you to buy a gun with a lock on it. If you buy a new gun!
Part of it is looks, and there have been reports of the
gun locking up when it wasn't supposed to. Don

There are lot of threads and info in the Smithing section

S&W-Smithing

The topic could fill volumes of books.

Basically when the lock was firts introduced there were some unintended lock ups on some guns, I have no idea what the percentage of lockups compared to the total number of guns produced. I do not think the % is very high.
People just do not like them and some disable them.

I have several with locks and several without. Makes no difference to me. If it is self defense gun than maybe one without a lock. But again, the odds of actually using a gun for SD and having the lock fail, well do the math.

If I was in LE or Military and used a revolver, than no I would not want a lock.

But wait, none of my semi autos have locks?? Why is that??
