Ok, so I've been thinking for awhile that I'd like to dress one of my 15-22s up in a new outfit. I'm going for the SR-25 look. I am going to try to match it to Marcus's rifle that he used. I am starting with a base 15-22 that has the threaded barrel. I have modified an A2 stock from a higher end airsoft rifle and it is currently in place. I am going to change out the hand guard using a Tacticool barrel nut converter and put a rifle length RIS on. I have a modified low profile has block, fake suppressor, bipod and optics all that need to be installed. Once done I'll give it as close to a paint job as I can find and if it turns out well then I'll post pics.

I like your style , I think if you're gonna go it you're gonna do it right. If I recall correctly, the Lone Survivor 4-man team had 2 snipers and 2 spotters.

The two snipers, Marcus and Axe, carried Mark -12's. The other two carried SOPMOD M4A1's with ACOGs ... I think you could, with some effort and more than a little bit of money, could copy the Mark 12 that Marcus and Axe carried.

I personally like the Mark-12 SPR style rifle with the PRI gen iii free float tubes, the Ops Inc muzzle brake (even if you'd not suppress it) and I would use a Magpul PRS stock for mine even if that's not exactly the mil-spec stock, I think it would set it off really nice.

I did my 15-22 as a combination Mark 18 CQBR/M4A1 style... I have a Magpul OD Green MOE Stock permanently in the closed position (i used to live in NJ and I never thought 5 years back I would move to FL freedom), the Magpul OD Green MOE grip, OD Green AFG, OD Green MBUS, an Aimpoint Micro w/ DD tall mount, and a custom camo pattern of XTM Panels covering the full length of the rail except the AFG area and sights. I did in fact try covering it with only OD Green XTM panels but this forum accurately pointed out that it looked AWESOME with my digi-camo pattern and much more like a green soldier toy rifle with the fully-green XTM panels.

I still sometimes want to get another 15-22 and make it into a "suburban sniper rimfire rifle" with my own creation ... but I have a fully-snipered sporter-style Remington 597, my old man has a sniper-style 597 HB I got him for Christmas, I also have a hunter-style Savage Mark II GXP, so I have the sniper-.22LR area covered. But hey, if I had the money, it'd be sure fun to make another 15-22 project!!

Good luck and post pics.

Man I'd like to see the 15-22 of yours that you described! Any pictures posted on here? And as far as getting yourself another one....well I hear you, man I've got 4 and love them!! I have the house SgtMaj convinced that each belong to a member of the family. Lol

Is this what you're trying to make - the rifle held by Mark Wahlberg? If so, are you going to paint it?

I can't find my pics of this anywhere handy, as soon as I get it back from S&W for the problem I just had with a Stinger kaboom, and i will gladly snap a few nice pics to post on here.

I would love to do another 15-22 as I said, but it could be a good $1000, $1500 w/ optic easy to do an awesome job, and while that would be a ton of FUN, if I had $1000-$1500 (which I don't and am not getting anytime soon) to spend on guns, there are several way more important purchases before a second, luxury-build 15-22 (despite the immense appeal, actually).
