Looking at a new M&P 15, tactical version?

Hello, Went and looked at a M&P(T)? AR 15 at Cabelas. ($1599) It has the folding front & rear sights and accessory rail. Fell in love with it and now would like some help with your opinions on the weapon. Need a little help pushing me over the edge on buying it. LOL! Want to possibly trade-in my 3913 9mm (in excellent cond) towards it as well. What do you think??

Or just raid the kids college fund and buy it out right.

You won't regret it.

Just called cabelas to make sure they still had the rifle. Said they had four of the S&W M&P 15T! and they also got in a couple other different models of the M&P 15 (X version, i think). They also got in a bushmaster as well. Gonna go on Thursday and take the plunge.

Gonna add an Eiotech (sp)? scope as well. Cant wait!! The guy said they got in a delivery of .223 ammo as well.

I will update as soon as I purchase it. Any input on a good sling?? I looked at one, forgot what kind, but it had a little bungie feel to it. Seemed like it would carry better.

Also looking for a good cleaning kit and lube as well. Any suggestions?? Thanks

My brother-in-law purchased the M&P15T 3 weeks ago in Kentucky and loves it!!

I have one on order and have been waiting 10 weeks. This is one of the hottest versions in the M&P15 line. If there is one instock go get it before it is gone!

Grab it, I was just at On Target in Kzoo and they had 15T's for $1799 plus tax...

I have both the 15T and 15X, and love them both!

What is the difference between the 15T and 15X?? They have both. Thanks

The 15T has a longer forend and different front sight. Both have 16" barrel and adjustable stock.

The 15T version has a folding front sight and free floated front quadrail. The 15X has the A2 front sight (birdcage fixed front) and a quadrail which is not free floated.

Free floating the front rail is more expensive to install but allows for the mounting of optics on the front rail. If you simply want non-optics (flashlight, etc.) on the front rail, the non-free float is fine. The free floated rail is also supposed to be cooler when firing at near full auto rates. Not a concern for most of us.

I had wanted the 15T initially but they are hard to find. When I actually looked at what I needed, the 15X suited my purposes just as well. I put one in layaway. When I get it out, I'm going to put an Eotech and a sling on it. After shooting for awhile, I may add a flashlight and/or vertical front grip. None of these require the free floated front rail.
