Anyone have a current Sneaky Pete holster and a Shield 9, and if so how's it working for you? I searched and only found threads at least a few years old and was hoping for newer input.

If I don't go with a SP then I'm looking for an OWB concealed carry holster for my old school Shield 9. I need something with belt clips for easy on/off, and leather.

I'm sure you'll get a ton of varying suggestions on holsters as they can be based so much on personal preference.
Not leather but my son in law is very happy with his Alien Gear as he can swap shells for use with his other carry gun.
My Crossbreed Reckoning (for Shield EZ) has leather backing and can be used owb and iwb. Works well, noting I have had limited time with it so far.
Neither are full leather but could be ones to add to a list if needed.

A Sneaky Pete (SP) is less a holster and more of a stiff, large carry pouch with a magnetic flap. It has some advantages for concealment, perhaps, but some disadvantages for quick access. For me, quick access is a primary concern, but for you, OWB concealment without a covering garment may be your first priority.

However, onlookers are supposed to think what you have is a cell phone case, and the size of a SP that would fit a Shield v. 1 would be larger than any cell phone, therefore telegraphing that you have something unique hanging on your belt, possibly reducing concealment rather than enhancing it.

OWB with such concealment may be hard to defend against a grab attempt. The flap may get in the way of you defeating the grab.

SP's are pretty expensive, right up there with some of the best Kydex and even leather standard OWB holsters that require a covering garment for concealment.

Drawing one handed may be a problem, especially if worn 3-5 o'clock. At one, two or three o'clock two hands are preferred (faster), just as with a covering garment over a standard holster. I don't think you gain anything with draw speed.

And if you do wear a coat over it, such as in cold weather, clearing both the coat and the flap is slow and clumsy.

Of course you may have physique reasons for choosing this method of carry; you don't say. So it is hard to recommend something different without understanding your requirements better. I just feel that a Sneaky Pete pouch holster has a number of drawbacks that may not be obvious to some users. The first is that whatever dimensions the gun has, the SP makes them all bigger on all sides. A Shield becomes almost the size of a full size gun externally.

Of the CC priorities, only you can set them in weighted order for you: concealment, retention, comfort, size, cost, speed, position, material, etc., but a good understanding of these ordered priorities is helpful to make useful alternate recommendations for you.

Thank you for the info. I saw the Reckoning listed when I filtered on their OWB holsters and thought they listed as OWB by mistake. I've tried a couple of Crossbreed IWB holsters and never could get comfortable with them, or any other IWB holster I've tried, so that's why I'm thinking OWB.

Thanks for that info. My interest in a Sneaky Pete is solely for comfort. I don't care if a few people have a good idea what it's in it. I've had my CCW for about 14-15 years and have probably carried less than 30-40 times. I've got to find something comfortable so I can regularly carry. I'm a plus sized guy, 5' 10" and 230, and all the IWB holsters I've tried just aren't comfortable. I've tried a couple Crossbreed QuickClips, galco stow n go, a sticky holster, and a few others I can't recall and I never found the comfort I was looking for. I do have a bianchi model 57 foot my shield 9, and I find it really comfortable and like how well it conceals, but I'd like something with belly clips for easy on and off.

BTW, I live in Florida so most days I'm in a tshirt with no jacket or bigger shirt to help conceal.

This model just needs the clips swapped out to change from inside to outside carry.
I mainly have used it for range and family property carry, limited out and about. Frankly the past year has been so "unique" with the periods of closures and limitations that I just haven't needed it much. I will assume that a holster built strictly for owb or iwb may handle some needs better, but I like the ability to change the position should I want to. And this Reckoning definitely is a quality item, occasionally on sale as well.

They are much larger than they need to be. I had one for a Seecamp. Any larger they look foolish. Just my opinion.

In my opinion, a SP says "shoot me first, I'm carrying"! Easy to spot when you know what to look for. OWB paddle is my best recommendation…carrying 30 years in a Galco paddle for a J-frame.
