In 1979, S&W made a run of 6" model 66-1 for the Rhode Island State Police marked R.I.S.P. on the left frame. This revolver also had a butt swivel (lanyard ring) mounted towards the rear of the butt frame. Two months ago I picked one up at a gun show but the swivel was missing.

Everyone I spoke to at S&W said they no longer have this part because 1979 was a long time ago.

I just saw a picture on the classifieds of a revolver made about 5 years ago that was a special order from the performance center. It had the same lanyard ring that I've been looking for.

Does anyone have a contact name for someone in the performance center that I can talk to, to see if they still have any of these lanyard rings hanging around.

Thanks in advance.

SNW REV,
I bet one of our members have one of those late style lanyard rings in their parts box. Have you tried a "Want to buy" in the classified section?
These were used on many M&P's in the 70's timeframe, the most notable are the Hong Kong Police guns (RHKP marked guns).
I'm certain you can find one here, probably a better chance than finding one at the factory.
