What speedloader holder are folks using? I just got some Safariland Comp III's for my 686 and would like to start using it in our local Defensive Pistol matches.

I use Blade Tech, which are the ones shown in the IDPA rulebook. Expensive, but no arguments about approved for IDPA.

PM me about Big Creek Carriers for the 686.

You will need either 2 or 3.
Normally 2 infront of the holster, and 1 behind Center Line weak side for a Strong Hand Reload.
IDPA Stage Round Count is limited to 18 so a Load & Make Ready and 2 reloads should do it, UNLESS you fumble a reload, then a 3d might be handy. You could run over with a steel activated target not going down as planned needing a third reload.
The Third Speed Loader could be either Belt or Pocket carried. The Belt Carrier would be quicker, as the Speed Loader is oriented upright. The Belt Carrier reload will probably save between 1 and 2 seconds over a loose pocket carried speed loader.

I have both North Mountain and Big Creek Carriers. I think you will prefer the Big Creek, and they are less expensive.

I have used Ready Tactical holders for K & L frames for several years and they work well. The North Mountain look fine too but I have never seen one.

Never heard of Big Creek but they sound interesting and may be a good option. I would like to see a picture of one.

Not the best picture.

This one is for an L Frame Jet Loader. I make mine to fit closer to the body than some I have seen, so they could be conceal carried.

I have body forms for:
L Frame Comp III
K Frame Comp III
L Frame Jet Loader
K Frame Jet Loader
J Frame Jet Loader.

I am planning to add some HKS Forms next.
They are of one piece construction. Belt Loops are for a 1.5" belt.

I use North Mountain speed loader and moonclip holders for IDPA, and like them. Mounted on tek-loks belt connectors which are very secure, but also very convenient to take off and put on.

Make sure whatever you get is "legal" in the game you play, some holder that are OK for USPSA are not legal in IDPA.

The Safariland 333 is not IDPA approved.

As the 333 was the only Good Speed Loader carrier available when IDPA outlawed it. And considering that it was made in a 2.25 Inch Duty Belt model, and not just the 1.5 Inch Competition Model, and still is. It looks to me like the powers that be deliberately outlawed it, with the intent of keeping the HKS Speed Loader in the game.
I have a 333, and it is plenty secure for even Duty Carry. In my opinion the Comp III and the 333 Carrier would probably be the only loader and carrier used in SSR if the 333 had not been taken out of the game years ago.

I have a couple North Mountain Carriers for my K Frame. They may be legal, but they are what I would consider to be competition only gear. Very Big & Blocky, not something for Real Concealed Carry.
I am not real impressed with Blade Tech either.

Just my 2 cents

Uncle Mike's used to make a duty case that would take two Comp IIIs. I picked up a new one (still on package) a few years ago just in case I ever carried my 66-4 in uniform again :D

It's ridiculous and awesome all at the same time.
