Hey guys,
Im new to the forum but have been reading for a long time. I am looking for a bipod for my 15-22. I was looking at harris but they are really expensive. I was wondering if there was cheaper but almost as good quailty that fits the rail system. I have been looking around but I honestly dont have much experience with bipods. Any help would be appreciated.

I realize that the Harris is expensive, but I have had one for almost 30 years, used it on everything from Contender pistols, to 460 Weatherby and it has held up great. Has not loosened, or had any other problems.
Bite the bullet, so to speak, and buy a Harris and it should last a life time.

I got a $20 gift card for Amazon from my job for some silly thing, and found
this little doo-hickey.

Was favorably impressed with its solidity. Especially for the price.

It even came with a mini-Picatinny rail that screwed onto my Marlin 795's
front sling swivel, so I can quickly swap between it and my 15-22.

For $20, it works well.

At least with my 10 round mags, the 25's don't play nice with it...

Bought the same one. Works good enough for me and my son.

I recently bought a Harris S-BRM for $89 with $10 discount at Midway, and the non swivel models go for around $65. Unlike optics, bipods can be to swapped to different firearms and ready to go in seconds. I agree with Photog that as long as you're buying one you might as well spend a very $mall difference more for a bipod that can be reliably used on a variety of guns.

I bought a UTG from cheaperthandirt.com, I bought the one with the highest centerline height, good for shooting from the prone position, paid $30 for it and love it. Even come with a swivel stud adapter.

Can someone please tell me the difference between a swivel model and a non swivel model? How much difference in movement are we talking about? I have no experience with bipods other hearing about harris from a friend. Thanks for the replies and future posts

Here's the S =(swivel model)-BRM on my .308. The swivel allows you to swivel (adjust for cant) to make the rifle level when on uneven ground or a surface that isn't level. There's a lot of movement available (pic below all the way over) but usually it's used for minor adjustment. If you get a swivel I would recommend the Alpha-Bravo lever. It allows for real quick and tight adjustment that you just can't do with the finger knob.

I saw a ncstar bipod while I was looking around. How is the durability on it? I have a Ncstar red dot with the laser and I dont have any complaints about the worksmanship

I've got a harris 1A2 ultralight bipod.....like new condition....I don't know where it came from, or what it cost me....adjustable legs...at least 12 inches at it it's shortest position, it's too high for anything i'm shooting now.......if you can use it let me know......pay for shipping, or send me a prepaid self addressed shipping package of some sort, it's yours.

I haven't had it very long, but it is good quality. I couldnt be happier with it. Mounts solid, doesn't budge while shooting. Recommend it to anyone.

Which NC Star model did you get? And also, are you able to use it with the 25 round mags? I've never noticed anyone ever mentioning the magic height required for a bipod to keep the 25-round magazines off the ground / bench. Anyone care to share?

I bought the UTG Tactical OP Bipod - SWAT/Combat Profile Adjustable Height and it does clear a 25 round mag when extended and shooting level or a few degrees of up angle.

Another vote for Harris. I have the HBL(9-13") model without swivel or leg notches. It's my favorite bi-pod on the market. I use it on a few different rifles I have. I mounted it on a CAA adapter.

collapsed-butt stock hovers, resting on mag in pic but not when shooting flat or slightly upward.

half way-butt stock touches the ground and mag clears.

fully extended- goofy looking, but it works well.

Decided that Im gonna get a harris. Gonna get one with the swivel but I have to wait til I can afford it. Just got 2 blackdog drums and magpul ladder rail covers. Gonna try and get a silencer with my tax return money next year. After that its only magazines and ammo

If you like shooting your 15-22 now, you're gonna love it suppressed. My next project for the 15-22 is SBR. I've never spent so much money saving money shooting .22s :D

I'll post some pics of my UTG Tactical Op 2 bipod with 8.3" - 12.7" centerline height once my scope gets on Monday if anyone is interested.
