I recently acquired a 38 Special model 36, 2" barrel, serial ALC6296. It appears to be a fairly recent vintage. I've attached a photo.
I looked at numerous online resources, and couldn't find one that covers this serial number range. The S&W catalog is $70, which seems excessive for one time use.
Does anyone have any suggestions for how to find more information on this weapon -- short of paying $100 to the S&W historical foundation?
Or if anyone has the book and is willing to look it up, I'd be grateful.
