Sip, there are people who do WWII reenactments. If you hunt around on the internet you can find places that sell them original stuff as well as replica stuff. Clothing, belts, ect.

Might be a place to start, anyway.

Sip,

Shotgun News used to have a bunch of advertisers that sold mil surp. You could get one and call those birds. Colonel Bubbys in Galveston has a ton of surplus, or did.

Actually, I believe the strap for that was listed as "Strap, Universal" and would fit several different bags. Eg ammo bag, courier bag, gas mask bag etc. Look for any of the pouches, the strap would be right.

Sip, how does the strap attach? Can you post some pictures? If it uses a musette bag type strap I may have an extra.

Be cautious dealing with Colonel Bubby in Galveston if the original owner is still around. BUT, if they have the strap it might be worth it to take the chance.

You may wish to contact these folks. Gy/Sgt (retired) Williams is the "head-man". At one time they had a lot of "stuff" and might have a loose strap laying around. US Marine Corps Historical Company

These folks did not have anything on their website but you might contact them and see what they have in their "wharehouse". Military Antiques, Military Collectibles and Militaria Home page IMA-USA.COM

Some (or all) of this you may already know. Your map case is WWII (after 1942/1943) USMC issue and in "khaki" with a "light-shade O.D." edge finishing. By late war the Marine Corps had gone to light-shade O.D. (as had the Army). In the Korean War through Vietnam the color became "dark-shade" O.D.

It appears, according to my books, that a khaki or light shade O.D. strap would be correct for your USMC map case.

Here is a WWII USMC light-shade O.D. map case, note the strap. A M1936 Musette Bag strap will not be correct. WWII USMC Marked Map Case RARE 1944 Dated Original Marine Corps Case | eBay

Here is a WWII USMC faded light-shade O.D. case with a M1936 Musette Bag strap on it. Was it issued that way? Or was it placed on it later for whatever reason? WWII Era USMC Marked Marine Corps M1938 Dispatch or Map Case w Carry Strap | eBay

This might be what you want. Original WW2 US Army USMC WWII Khaki Utility Strap Clean | eBay

Moderators: If my use of referrals to ebay is incorrect please remove them. I have not interest of any kind here other than to help Sip.

The one I have is the 1936 musette bag strap and is the late war olive green, not olive drab. If I remember correctly it's dated to the Korean war. If you can't locate the correct one I would be glad go send it to you.

Be warned that some of the folks in downtown Hollywood may laugh at the color clash of your new man purse.

I'll bid on the last link in Semperfi's post...that is the right one with the rings on the bag, not on the straps...thanks again guys!

By the way, I do have the shoulder pad for thae strap...it was in the bag...:)
