looking for some smithing guidance and advise: UPDATE - SUCCESS

remarkable product to try

pour small amount of Ballistol in up turned barrel
it has loosened plugs for me when nothing else would
takes 24 hrs

I was recently given an inline muzzleloader with the breech plug frozen in place.
I have tried heat, cold, soaking in kroil, tapping with rubber mallet, sharp strike using brass drift. Finely drilled it and attempting to use an easy out and hammer drill. The plug hasn't budged.

Any tips or techniques that I might try?

Thank you,
Terry

I now have a broken bolt extractor (easy out) stuck in the nipple hole. I got frustrated and kept using more and more leverage until the Grabit broke flush with the breech plug. soon as I get that broken tip out I will try the Ballistol idea.

and they call me "Bubba"

This is actually a Winchester model X150. Appears to be a Spanish made CVA. The breech plug has a slot rather than a hex head. The shoulders were heavily worn as was the breech removal tool from the previous owners attempts to remove the frozen plug.

Thinking about tig welding a rod on to the broken extractor shank then unscrewing the broken tip.

I was able to use a dremel tool with a carbide burr to nibble away at the broken extractor bit that had broken off. Then I was able to drill a larger hole in the breech plug. Using a larger straight style bolt extractor bit and combining force and heat I was able to extract the frozen breech plug. Old machinist tip after applying heat spray the frozen bolt with WD40. The idea being that the heat will pull the WD into the threads. Seemed to work.
