I am looking for some information on a Model 28 Highway Patrolman. Serial number 52xxx75 its has a 4 inch barrel. I would like to know anything about this revolver I can find, it has been handed down to me by my father in law who got it second hand while working in law enforcement back in the 60s.

Good point, wetdog. S200,000 would fit better with his story: Model 28 (before the dash numbers started) and acquisition in the 1960s.

Let's see what he has to say. :)

S prefix used up until 1970 (around S333,000) then changed to N. You Xed out the numbers that would nail it down. Could be S200xxx to S299xxx and we don't know. If you MUST X numbers then X the last couple.

By the way, in the history of the Internet nobody has EVER had anything bad happen due to posting a serial number.

1. What are the odds that the owner from 1992 will read your post and remember the serial?

2. This has never happened.

He can "say" whatever he wants but he'd better have a police report with the serial of the stolen gun to back it up.

If he does, don't you want the legitimate owner to get his gun back? I once wound up with a stolen gun I was a little perturbed at being out the $350 I paid for it but I felt good a stolen gun was returned.

I'm one of those who checks serial numbers. Had a 28, 13, 65 and a 49 stolen in 2004. They're out there somewhere and still active in NCIC.
