I looking at this model 648 Smith & Wesson .22 Magnum. The guy wants $1250 for it. I have looked at it in person and it looks better than the pictures. No box or paperwork. These are pretty rare, are they not? Thanks to all for your opinions.

Yes, They are rare. The gun looks pretty clean. I would say 1250.00 if it's a no dash is a fair value. To bad he doesn't have box and paper work. Prices on Gunbroker have been in that range. Hope that helps, GOOD LUCK!

Looks possibly unfired, no turn line. The grips themselves are worth 150-200

I ended up buying this pair of Smiths for $1700 and came home with two new revolvers, a 648 (no dash) .22 magnum with a 6" barrel and this 686 (no dash) .357 magnum with an 8 3/8" barrel. I think I did OK over all since the 648 is a rare revolver... Thanks for all the input.
