Hey guys. My Mod 27-2 circa 1980 has not been fired much either before I bought it (used) or in the 15 years that I have owned it.
When the cylinder is closed, I can move the cylinder, and crane assembly slightly outward in the direction of open position. About a thousandth or two maybe.
Even in full lock-up the crane & cylinder can be moved.
The ejector rod retaining pin at the end of the shroud does not engage in the recess at the end of the ejector rod hardly at all. It looks to me like a replacement of the ejector rod retaining pin in the shroud is all that is neccessary to fix this.
I know that some pins engage the end of the ejector rod more than others due to machining tolerances etc., but should I be concerned about this?
And should I send it out to S&W to have it checked/repaired, or find a qualified smith near me if possible?
What do you experts say?
Thanks for any replies.
Mike
