losing your second amendment rights

Wow y'alls laws are really harsh. They would not give anyone a TPO without proof of violance (a DV report with injures pressent). Also here if you move someone in they have to establish residence by ID showing that address. That requires a bill in your name or some kind of proof to the state. The stripper would have been tossed out on her ear in our jurisdiction. Wow other states laws are way way over the top.

If memory serves me right, the stripper had gone to her apt and brought some clothes to his house so the judge accepted her claim to residing there. If she would have not admitted to still having her apt, she could have stayed in the guys house for at least 6 mths and maybe a year?? On a personal note, my best friend let a girlfriend move in with him. About 2 months later he discovered she was cheating on him with her boss. He confronted her and she called 911. The Officers arrested him because she claimed he had hit her. He was court ordered out of his own house and all of his guns were taken. About a year later he was found not guilty in court. He then had to file for another hearing to have her evicted which took about 6 more mths and more attorney fees. He then went to the Sheriffs Office to get his guns. Forget about it! Another court hearing to go to. Because he had so many guns the judge took about 6 months to make his decision to give them back. He had to sell most of them to pay his court costs and attorney bills and then he got cancer and dies. There is no justice in this world.

I'm sickened but unsurprised by the stories of injustice shared.

In the state of Connecticut they will revoke your concealed carrying permit and seize all you guns if a woman even whispers the words gun and assault in the same sentence to a law enforcement officer. A scorned woman can hang a man out to dry very easily in this state.

Not this into a complex legal discussion, but I absolutely hate the fact that for domestics where the officer is prosecuting (even when the victim refuses prosecution) LEO's are usually making an arrest for a misdemeanor that did not occur in their presense. They said the law was made to protect women who are too afraid to prosecute and so if their is any visable injury, we are REQUIRED to prosecute on the women's behalf. Most the time when it goes to court the only thing I can testify to is the actual injury.....not how it got there, when it got there, who did it....nadda zipp....so if the victim does not show, or refuses to incriminate her boyfriend, he walks. This all occurres while the city's tax dollars are paying me overtime to sit in court and twiddle my thumbs. The DA's now simply ask if this is going to be a waste of time or not before they get involved with it.

Yup, I think that law was to get the offending party in front of a judge and in the legal system so stipulations can be placed on them. Even if the case is dropped, the system still intervened which may have saved a life. I understand that its a misdemeanor in most cases but we are still able to work car crashes and issue tickets / arrest when it did not happen in front of us. Remember we arrest on probable cause which we know is not 100% fact. Now depending on the state if your traffic tickets are civil issues then I don't know how y'all do it. Here everything is a misdemeanor and all tickets are considered an arrest with a release on a copy. As far as the domestics in other states, I'm sorry you guys have too deal with a over reaching form of government. My personal feelings is y'all need to try to get in contact with your representatives about this or the ACLU ( barf)... I think that's really bad that Someone can just whisper a word and it starts a s*%+ storm. Remember that this county is based in innocent until pro. Guilty. Due to the selem witch trials, when we got away from British common law. Sounds like some witch hunting is still going on up north. Think its very unconstitutional and OMG I can't say it..... ACLU..... LOL could do something about it. I think some state governments have forgot that moderation is needed in the rule of law and they are the first inline defense against an over reaching federal government. Thank God I live and police in the south. I could never do it in a state that treats "The People", like mindless children. I would not be able to live with the internal struggle.

Millions of stories?

When I was young and looking into police work, a deputy sheriff friend loaned me a book. I believe it was written by Judge Samuel Leibowitz

One of the many stories of his lawyer days was about defending a man accused of rape. The young lady was a nurse (if memory serves) and living in low rent nurses quarters. The ladies in that building were absolutely forbidden from having men in their rooms. When she was caught with boyfriend in room she tried telling the people in charge she was raped (by unknown male). Naturally they insisted she call police (again, basic memory of a basic story).

Anyway each step in the process took her deeper into the lie she did not know how to stop. When they caught her previous boyfriend she identified him.

Basically (then attorney) Leibowitz was able to prove that they were in fact dating prior to the incident and he was released & charges dropped.

My son had a part time tending bar in a college town. The local PD had a task force that would send underaged drinkers with fake ID's into local bars to see if they would be served. The bar my son worked at had a person at the front door checking proof and stamping hands of the legal aged drinkers. The local PD raided the bar and arrested my son along with 5 other bartenders and charged them with unlawfully dealing with a minor! Guess what happened 2 days later he received a call from the local Sheriffs telling him to turn in all his handguns immediately! Fortunately my son got a heads-up from a friend in law-enforcement so he sold all his handguns to a local FFL! It took him 9 months to get his pistol permit back after all charges were dropped! And yes it was the great state of NY!!!!! He did buy all his handguns back at a great price!

Hi 1Colt, I hear you. I am 65 and did find a decent lady (in Zew Zealand) and we are into outdoor sports and camping...I am way too old for Drama. I feel for the cops that get involved because no one knows when they arrive...who is lying and who is telling the truth and it can potentially be a very dangerous situtation as I am sure you are well aware of. I agree whole heartedly with your advise.

My experience: 4 years ago at previous workplace, a neighbor (housed in the same building, collaborating with us) always took my stuff w/o cleaning them, I had to clean the equipment thoroughly because it's important. Then he came again to grab the equipment, I told him to back off, and he chocked (not very hard) me and saying something like :"If you act like this, I will kill you next time", he was much bigger, and the word "kill" was too strong, so I dialed 911 and police came, the cop asked me and immediately told me he would talk to the other guy because their experience tell them the attacker sometimes fake injury (scratches, etc) and accuse me, fortunately that didn't happen. I did not press charges against him, but learned the same lesson as you did.

Let's not let our guard down in terms of AWB, I went to the local gun show 1h ago, not many people, and people start talking about lower prices, and dealers crossed out the older (higher) prices on their magazines/ARs. All are good signs, but we must continue to work hard!!!

I was born in Edgewater Colorado, in the house my father built. Sadly this is no longer my fathers country, and with western civilization declining faster than I ever imagined, it feels like this is no longer my country as well. I used to say, "That's what's great about America, if you don't like the laws where you live, you can move to another city or state". The trouble is.......we are running out of better places to move to. It's not just the gun control, it's a lot of progressive policies like socialism, sustainability, tolerance, environmentalism, political correctness, etc. etc. chipping away at our western lifestyle.
The greatest self governing experiment to ever come down the pike, and misguided ideologues want to fundamentally change it.

Rhetorical question:
Will there always be arrogant intellectuals who must reinvent the wheel?

And

It's not just things like a record of domestic violence.........any diagnosed personality disorder can technically disqualify you from firearm ownership, and most certainly diagnosis of depression or any other diagnosis done by a psychologist, will force you to forfeit your 2nd Amendment rights.
Just seeing a shrink will put your rights at risk.

We must watch all our rights now that they are becoming interwoven by interesting laws and brainwashing.
Back in 1970’s when I was still living in the Peoples Republic of Kalifornia, a friends young boy had a typical boy accident (I forget if it was bicycle or what). He took kid to hospital to get his scratches and minor abrasions tended to. When he became aware that the nice lady at hospital had taken his kid in office and was asking if his father caused abrasions and if he ever spanked him, he took his kid and left.

In 1980's my next door neighbor was raising her grandkid. One day he comes home from school and announces that his teacher told them “if you are ever spanked, pick up the telephone and call 911”.

I think California was the first state to have lawyers advertising on TV. Then it spread across this great country. My father used to tell me that back in the 1960's in California it was normal to not know your neighbors and not help people when they were in trouble. Look at what has happened to the rest of the country. Seems like California was a real trend setter....
