Lost a friend

It is with great sadness that I report the passing of my German Shepard Sam.

Sam was a rescue dog from the LA county animal shelter, Lancaster CA. His age at the time of adoption was 4-5 years. Sam was very sick when adopted. After much love and care he recovered. Maybe not 100%. But, he had a good 6 years with the wife and me. Nothing real special about Sam. Except he was a very handsome Shep, and garnered many complements during our walks around the neighborhood.
It's very painful to lose him and the sadness is overwhelming.
RIP Sam. You were and are still LOVED.

Someone who's never experienced the love, friendship, and devotion of a dog will never understand just how painful it can be to lose a friend like him. I've little doubt he's going to be missed.

So sorry for your loss. Sam was a fine looking boy. My GSD Baron passed 3 yo and I still think of him daily. Dogs are one of the greatest things you can have in life.

Losing a friend really sucks. We lost our Rotti in December.

We brought a new puppy home a few weeks ago.

My deepest sympathies. We lost our beloved Grace last year. She was a pet therapy dog for my wife who had 2 bouts of breast cancer. She was fine one day and gone the next.

It took me a long time before I was willing to put my heart out on another 15 year loan after my black lab died.
One has to balance the love and joy they bring against the heartbreak of losing them in such a short time.

So sorry for your wrenching loss.

Sam will be waiting for you and your wife at the Rainbow Bridge.

Rainbow Bridge
Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

That is very true. When I lose one of my buddies, I could actually feel the broken heart in my chest. And it's OK for us modern guys to cry. Very sorry to hear about Sam.

I'm terribly sorry for your loss. Many of us know the pain of saying goodbye to a friend.

I truly believe that rescue dogs "know" and that Sam was grateful for every day of the wonderful life you gave him.

Rest in Peace, Sam. Give my regards to Shovelhead at The Bridge & let him know I'll be looking for him when I get there.

I feel your pain, I too have lost two great friends over the years, I think of them often General & Dusty, both German Shepards!
