Wonder how many this has happened to? I have a very modest collection. One of my favorite guns is a Model 60-9. It shoots and handles unbelievable for a J Frame. I hand polished this gun with Mothers Mag polish to a high gloss and outfitted it with some ivory grips.

During that time my wife acquired a nice 80s vintage Model 649.

When she saw my Model 60 in its finished state ~ she said she liked it better because it had a "thumb dooey" (hammer) instead of a "tab" shrouded hammer. After I laughed so hard I cried ~ I had a nice Model 649.

Similar thing happened to me and my wife. She is not a shooter per se but wanted to keep a gun handy for home defense. I had several and took her out to the range one day. She tried my 2 1/2" S&W 66. I carried this gun in the office when I was a security supervisor and private investigator. Well she liked it so much it has become her gun. I'm a police officer now and have many more guns just as suitable as the 66. I'm glad my wife chose such a good gun for the purpose. I know when I'm at work she is well protected.

"If Momma ain't happy no one is happy" Actually I think it's great that you polished it up and that she chose it because that's way different then her always lusting after it and not you.

I walked in and showed my wife a new 1911... She looked at it, handled it, and said, "Thanks!"

It happened to me not with handguns but with rifles. Early in my marriage I was a travelling salesman (Don't believe ALL the jokes ) This was over 25 years ago and I found a couple of Remington 788's, a 7mm-08 and a 223 and bought them both. I got home late on a Friday night and the rifles were the first thing into the house. I went back out to the truck for my suitcase and when I came back in the front door, there's the little woman staring into the scope on the -08 and said, this one's mine. Was then, is now.

Lost a '56 model Marlin Mountie to my wife. She really likes shooting .22 rifles and this one is her favorite.
At least it's still in the family!

My Wife took one look at an original Colt SP1 AR that I brought home, said "I like this one way better than the ones with all the stuff on 'em', so by default she now owns a very nice flat side AR.

My wife knows that I have several Class III items and have a special dealer for them. She keeps asking me why I don't have one of those cool machine guns...I guess that's kinda like granting permission, right?

You did a nice job on the 60, and you know how the Ladies like Shiny/Pretty things, I guess somewhere you'll just have to find another.:D:D:D

Don't feel bad, my wife claimed my first SW1911 (108282). I think she would have claimed my 4006TSW too, except that the grip is a little wide for her so she has to reach for the trigger.

My wife calls it "overed" as in- I overed on his S&W 66.

In fact I recently saw some beautiful rosewood grips for it this weekend and I was told I couldn't buy them because she liked her gun just the way it was.

There is no winning hopefully she lets you shoot it.
