I missed this nearer the date.
Pat Travers Bassist Peter 'Mars' Cowling Dies
RIP Peter "Mars" Cowling, bassist who played with Pat Travers for many years. First time I heard a Travers' tune I was immediately struck by the intricate bass lines. Naturally, I copied his finger style (as best I could) which made me a bit of a freak in Punk obsessed Britain of the late 70s. Most of the punk bassists seemed hell bent on breaking strings with root chord notes and not much else. Cowling PLAYED the bass. Big difference.
Two pieces that highlight his skill.

Rock on, Sir. Save some Mars bars for me.
