I think we could get 75Vette out if we add some Big Bore sized targets to the Field Pistol area and host "Colorado style" Bordello class IHMSA competition.
4" max barrel length revolvers, 5" autos, and no sight adjustments after shooting sighters. Would only need two swingers per bank to make it viable.

Hedley don't mind so much but this is the weekend for the HUGE annual Senoia car show. There will be an unbelievable number of old classic cars in the small quiet town that's also the home of The Walking Dead series. I'll be taking the Vette even though it won't win any awards. Mine has never had a ground up restoration. It's in great shape but can't compete with some of the immaculate rebuilds. Who knows, I might even get to see Maggie!

Early result for the scoped 629 in Big Bore Unlimited Standing (US): A 38/60. Not spectacular in of itself, but was pleased to miss only 4 of the first 30 targets! One 50m Chicken and the rest 100m Pigs.

Things fell apart on Turkeys, hit the third bird when I was supposed to be shooting the second which basically makes for TWO misses with one pull of the trigger! Thought I was on the correct critter, and the shot felt good, but.... Then kdiver58 started calling misses to the left, and it turns out the windage was incorrectly set somehow, not much, but enough. And the usual operator errors.

Worked out some long running elevation questions on the rams, I hope! Did have a few mystery low misses at 200m, which is new.

Hope to have some photos and maybe video soon.

BB Revolver class: Best I can say is we had a strong finish; five of five Rams on the last bank. Kdiver's spotting helped avoid complete disaster!

Shot the match using a .5 diopter lens in a Knoblock adjustable frame. Helped bring the sight picture in very sharp, but messed with zeroes a little and wasn't getting hoped for improvements overall. Actually went backwards a little! 34/60. Not having a practice range for Big Bore is something of a hindrance whilst experimenting. We have a 200 yard range, not 200m, and it makes a largish difference in POI. We've also not yet gone to the effort to make BB targets so far. Just been using bullseyes.

Considering this is our rookie year for BB, it's hard to be upset much, though! In actual fact, I'm tickled that my poky Field Pistol loads have done so well. Still amazed at how long it takes for the bullets to get out to 200m. Time enough to bring the revolver back on target, re-aim and wonder a bit if the shot will hit! Just think: there's 28 MOA change from 50m to 200m! (Over 0.100" sight height variance.)

Whether the old 29-3 is capable of shooting 40/40s or 60/60s even in the hands of a good shot seems unlikely, given it's blasé IHMSA history, but I still think it's capable enough to get me to International Class in Field Pistol one of these days, and at least AAA in Big Bore.

Kdiver58 also had optical dramas with his shooting glasses but valiantly fought through to finally show the Rams "what for", which has been his major challenge to date with the .25 BR. Missed only one or two of 15 200m targets. Of course, that's the one stage in which I got no video footage.

May have gotten some video of sw282 as well, but haven't yet reviewed the footage.

J, sounds like all in all you and kdiver had a great coupla days of shooting! I hope you can get a video or two up.
It was a scorcher in Senoia. TONS of old beautiful cars. Lots of old Vettes!!
Oh, and I ran into an old friend!!

Gluttons for punishment is more like it. Every miss is agony. Haven't got the zen mode, yet! The real agony is not being able to do it every day, at least a little.

Thinking of doing some more matches with just one revolver and trying to work the kinks out on the reentries. But it tends to be rough on the spotter, if they want to shoot as well. Having an instant replay video would help, esp. if it only shows the impacts (on or off the target).

Was able to get three videos onto the laptop, but having trouble with the other six. All vid so far is of Melvin doing clean runs on Pigs and Turkeys in Production BB.

Should have recorded R Slaton shooting BB Half Scale. Performance art with projectiles!

I have fond memories of IHMSA shooting. It's been awhile. I guess you know what the pins are for

I looked over some of my old records, and best I did Freestyle = 24, and Standing = 20 in center-fire, and in Rimfire a 27 in Production Auto and a 21 Standing.

I wish we had a Field Pistol range around here, I'd like to try it, I'm too old to shoot any freestyle positions any longer, and my wrists won't stand up to that much bigbore any longer. Last match I shot was in 1987. (D***, that's nearly 30 years ago.)

FWIW, you don't likely need loads that generate so much recoil any more for Big Bore! IHMSA some time ago modified the Rams by removing much of the backward extension of the feet. Partly to increase participation, but mostly to improve safety as folk were running up pressures in the smaller cartridges to extreme levels!

Now the 6mms are reasonably viable, and kdiver58 took every Ram he hit at this month's Championship match with a mild recoiling 25 BR. (14 of 15!)

I'm running subsonic lead bulleted Field Pistol loads in my .44s. Recoil isn't bad at all, but it needs lots of sight travel and good follow through!

For Standing BB, you could try 32-20(usually actually ".30"-20) or .30 Carbine with heavy bullets (150-180gr), or even .357 Mag.

That is quite the contortionist shooting position........

Great video J ! I'd sure like to see our buddy sw282 on the line!

It's on the camera, but having dramas extracting them. Have others of Melvin on the laptop. But wasn't able to upload them for sharing. Mostly because I'm a noob as regards electronics.

Given his history, it's a minor miracle that he can shoot freestyle at all. I suspect there's a recovery period required after a match.

Heck, I couldn't even get into that position if I tried and he stays in that pose while reloading in an even more awkward style......my hats off the him just for getting in that shooting position let alone for being able to see those targets and hitting them.

You just need to find a 12 year old kid...straighten it right out!!
