Looking for a casual, non-concealed holster for a 41 mag N-frame. Bianchi sells only "high ride" custom-like fit things. Sounds like they sit up pretty snug against the body. Any suggestions for a nice leather holster that sits a little lower? I don't need it in the middle of my thigh, but maybe something that splits the difference between a cowboy style and modern glove-fit, high ride?

Maybe like the old Don Dume Jordan Border patrol style?

Find them on Ebay (you need the #2 for an N frame.

New, Tex Shoemaker still makes old school duty holsters or, El Paso Saddlery.

Good luck.

El Paso Saddlery has one that I think they call the Patton style holster. I had one for a Redhawk and it was a very nice comfortable holster to use.

Given your criteria, I would get a "snap off" type holster of the type that used to made by Brauer Brothers in St. Louis.

I think Hunter makes one like you need now. I think they call it the 1100.

Thanks for the ideas. El Passo has lots of cool stuff. The Patton does look like what I was after. Looks like quality doesn't come cheap though.

Check the auctions and classified for a good ol' Bianchi 5BHL. I have this excellent holster for 2 & 3in. J's , 4 & 6in. K's , 5 & 6in. N's , 4 & 6in. Colt and 7 1/2in. Ruger Redhawk. Center line of cylinder is about centerline of belt slot.

What you're describing is the "old school" style revolver duty holsters which you can find lots of good NOS on ebay, forums and gun shows.

My favorites ones depending on barrel length are either the drop loop swivel or "break front" style LE duty holsters.

Ebay seller American 'Heritage" Gun leather is where I found most of mine, he lists holsters from Bianchi, Safarilad, Brauer Bros, Shoemaker, Hume... all of the great "old time" revolver duty holster makers.
