Lube grease ??

I have used it very sparingly on my AR op rod, and on some slide rails. I only use oil (break free) on my S&W revolvers. It seems to work as good as any other grease, and I can't find any fault with it. I'm sure there are many others just as good. I do use quite a few of the Pro Shot products, and I really like their cleaning patches. They used to make a Lead cleaning solution some years ago that was terrific, but they discontinued it, something about it may cause cancer in Calif.

I used up a jar a long time ago.
It seemed to work about as well as any grease. It does seem to be more sticky then most greases and will pull strands off if you touch it. So, it seemed to stay put better.

Years ago I switched to Super Lube grease and oil years. One reason was that there was no info available on just what the Pro-Gold was-- a synthetic or ??, what the gold particles were and what purpose it served, and on what the properties about temperature ranges etc were.
I like to know what I'm using so I switched to Super Lube.

Super Lube is a synthetic Teflon bearing clear-white lube good from -45 to +450.
The oil is a thick oil-thin grease consistency that stays put and won't run off, evaporate, dry out, or migrate like thinner oils.

I buy the grease in cans and the oil in 4 ounce bottles direct from Synco.
I've opened up customer revolvers from as much as 10 years ago and the Super Lube was still present and working.
A good "feature" is that when it gets dirty it turns to a gray color.

When I DO USE grease on a gun I use Rig +P Grease for lubrication. I like to use it on certain Rifle Bolts and on certain Slides. On Military Rifles I like using USGI Grease out of the little tiny Grease Pots with the yellow screw-on tops. I figure if it was good enough for the US Military, it's good enough for me.

I do have a tube of Super Lube and that I use on the inside of my Ratchets. From what the Snap-on Tool Guy has told me that is what Snap-on uses when they build them. I do not take them apart too often, but once every few years (or when I remember) I disassemble, clean and Super-Lube the Ratchets again. Seems to hold up fine but I have never used it on guns - not for any particular reason.

The truth is, most any heat and waterproof grease will work fine in guns.
Many match shooters just buy cartridges or tubes of Lithium grease at Walmart or any farm and home store.

The grease used for the M1 was Lubriplate 120, which is just a standard Lithium grease.
You can buy it in tubes from Brownell's.

I never did find out just what the gold particles in the Pro-Gold grease and if they served any purpose.
