I want to take down my Dillon 650 for cleaning and lubrication. Nothing is mentioned in the manual about that process or the lubricants to be used. I watched a you-tube video that talks about 30 weight motor oil for the ram and grease for most of the other parts. I'm a little embarrassed to say I don't know much about grease other than the stuff I use on my pistols. I will need to buy a grease gun and the grease to go with it. Are there different weights and if so, which should I buy?

I use the silicone grease made for copy machines. I suspect the low speeds and loads involved require no special specs, and I don't like the mess from axle grease if it gets in the wrong place.

for years I just dipped my finger in 30W motor oil & spread over the ram, running it up & down a few times;

For the plastic surfaces needing lube on the rest of the machine, after using a variety of such as plain old white lube & non specific other slick-ems over the years, experimented with the synthetic stuff for autopistol slides.

Seems to work well. Got a kind that has a very tiny needle tip and that has been easiest w/ no slop.
Further modified application by using a long wood-stick q-tip to spread as needed and all seems to be very satisfactory. Doesn't take much, nor often.

Good luck. "Your results may vary"

I've had my 450 for many decades and never taken it apart. I use penetrating oil on the link pins (a suggestion from Dillon), motor oil on the ram, and clean the powder bar with denatured alcohol.

Something like white lithium based works fine, you just want something on the moving parts.

I like DuPont Krytox lubricant. The lube that Dillon uses can seize up if you leave your press unused for a while. I haven't had that with Krytox.
It has more of a grease-like consistency, so it stays where you put it.
It is non-reactive around chemicals, so no need to worry about reaction with powder, or other residue. It is also inert around plastics and won't corrode metals. So, it's safe around all the materials that Dillon uses to build their presses.
The lubricity is excellent, in fact probably a higher performance level than needed. It is also extremely stable regarding wide temperature fluctuations.

I use Mobil 1 10W-30 on the ram, Harley Davidson bearing grease on everything else. The HD grease is blue.

I have a Dillon 550. I use marine wheel bearing grease (blue) on the grease zerk at the ram pivot as it is what I have in the gun, that I use to grease the steering head of my '06 Fatboy.

The ram gets Ballistol as do dies and blued parts. I use a little of the above same grease on the powder measure rod where it goes through the arms on the measure and on the pivot for those arms.

I keep the primer area cleaned with methylated spirits.
