Short story is I recently bought this and tried to buy original target stocks while it shipped. I was sent k frame targets that were listed as Ns. Seller gave me a full refund which was good because this revolver came with a set of N frame target stocks even though there was no mention of them in the listing. I feel if the seller took better photos and put the wood stocks on it there would have been no way I would have gotten it for under a grand.

Any information the forum can give me would be greatly appreciated. Serial shows it was manufactured in 1974 and the lack of target trigger and hammer suggests it originally had magna grips.

First photo is it up against my 28-2 serial N182243. If anyone could look the build date on that it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance for looking and any info on either.

Good thing the seller got lazy and took his pics with the Pachmayrs...

On your 28-2, is there a letter preceding the number?......Ben
Yes there is, letter N. I added to the original text to include it. I actually thought it just stated the frame size.

SCSW4 suggests a build year of 1973...Ship date could be any date during or after that year...Joining the S&WCA could get you the privilege of asking Roy for the month and year of shipping...Narrowing it down further will cost you a letter, which by the way is well worth the cost and the wait as a valuable resource...:D...Ben

That's a beautiful Long Tom 27. I paid the same for my nickel Long Tom about 3 years ago. I hope you enjoy yours as much as I enjoy mine.

I still feel like I stole it at that price. Maybe we should share a jail cell;)

Not sure if it means anything, but I saw a 4" nickel 29-2 go for just over $800 and a long barrel 27-2 in nickel go for about the same price last week on GB. Maybe some folks are running out of money to spend on guns.
