M.A.G.I.C Assist Knife legal to carry?

I just purchased a Smith & Wesson M&P M.A.G.I.C Assist knife at a local Academy and was wondering if these were legal to carry in Texas. I have a friend who also purchased one who was told by a LEO that it was not, but then I was told by another LEO that it was. Does anyone know?

The M.A.G.I.C. line of knives operate as easily as any full auto knife but are still legally classified as "Spring Assisted".

Based on the above I guess the question is: Are spring assisted knives legal in Texas...............

It seems to be a grey area, one LEO guy told me it was legal as long as it didn't come out of the end of handle like a "switch blade", but I tried to read the Texas laws about legal carry knives and came away more confused
