I picked this m&p up today for $530 new out the door today. I couldn't say no!! :)

I'm depressing the "lever" and the butt stock will NOT slide back/forth. I removed the screw from the lever and no luck. How do I get this to move?? This is a nice looking rifle for the $

Obvious first question: What state do you live in? :o Is it a moonbat state?

Second question: If you don't live in a moonbat state, did you somehow manage to end up with a moonbat state rifle?

OK, using google, it seems that rifles with adjustable stocks have to be pinned in place (neutered) for those poor souls that live in states such as Mass. The comments don't mention others, nor does the S&W site detail them, but if you got a rifle originally destined for those nanny states, you can, it appears, have it unpinned. If you happen to live in one, you'll need to have it unpinned, adjusted, then re-pinned at your local gunsmith, or maybe do it yourself. I'm not a lawyer. I just bring 'em in.

Look up your SKU model number on the S&W site and it will tell you if it is from a complaint state. Living in such a state and looking at the various offerings on online sites, I can tell you that you do not have to live in a compliant state to buy one of these, people buy them not knowing they are compliant, I guess the LGS hopes you know what you are buying.
