MP 10 SPORT Who's got one?

Don't have one , but I have to ask! where can I get the 16" barrel? will S&W offer a 16" for owners of the original 18"? I've been wanting a shorter barrel but because of proprietary issues nothing available from anyone! and a 16" barrel opens up more ammo selections! wondering if the BCG is still same as MP 10 18"?

I ended up getting an M&P Sport. Took it out today and ran around 100 rounds of Federal 7.62x51. Shot really well and groups were nice at 100 yards. I am using a Primary Arms 1-8. I expected the recoil to be much worse. Fun little gun.

The Sport has a 16" barrel according to their web site.

I have one, got it a few months back. Because of the weather here, it took me about a month to finish breaking in the barrel. I've now added a Precision Armaments M4-72 compensator, better stock, POF drop-in trigger, UTG rail system, rubberized grip, extended charging handle and, of course, a scope.

My problem is that my first 4 or 5 shots land high, progressively dropping down an inch or two at a time until everything stabilizes. I've come to the conclusion that the barrel needs to warm up first, before being accurate. Once those first 4 or 5 shots have been fired, the rifle shoots sub-moa. Unfortunately, I bought the rifle with the intention of using it as a pig hunting rifle. Which means I don't get to take warm up shots. Any ideas how to fix this? Anyone else having this issue?

What happens when you let the barrel cool down and then shoot another group?

When I let it cool down, the point of aim climbs back up. Then, as you might expect, it settles in as it warms up.

It took me a couple of trips to the range to figure this out. I have a nice scope, but I thought that the relatively inexpensive mounts I put on the rifle were part of the cause. Every time I went out, I'd take a shot, see that my first shot was high, adjust the scope, take another shot, be right on, then start to be a little low. I'd have to adjust every other shot or so until I had 8-10 shots fired, then everything would steady out. I'd leave the range pleased, because my last two or three groups would be pretty nice, and I'd think I had my "scope issues" sorted out. Now, I realize that it's the rifle, not the scope or mount.

Magpul butt, grips, guards, UHG 45 degree offset BUIS (this pic is a week old).

Picked one up about a month ago that was on consignment at my local gun store. Brand new, but with Magpul stock and grip replacements. Came with 5-20 round mags too. I'll post a pic when I get the Bushnell Nitro scope fitted.
