Hi, Im interested in getting the m&p10 as my next hunting rifle and target shooting. I was wondering if s&w fixed the feed problems alot of people where having? Im a big fan of s&w, but i dont want to spend $300 in ammo just so it will function right.

The only feed problems I've had were related to using the stock mag that came with it, once I switched to DPMS mags all problems disappeared.

I got mine in August and it has purred with the included Pmag and also the gen 3 20 round and 10 round Pmags.

i notice most of the models look the same. What is the best model to get? Also how does this gun compare to dpms gen2? Most people at the gun stores are telling me to get the gen 2. They said its a stronger more reliable gun. But Im still leaning towards the m&p because of the life time warranty.

The DPMS Gen II isn't always compatible with MagPul magazines.

So far, the M&P-10 has proven to be pretty robust, even when we ran it through a couple of fast shooting carbine drills

Mine has shot federal 168 cheap 150 fmj and soft point and my reloads with 150fmj and 165 soft point. No issues at all. I did clean and relube when I got the rifle and I only use p mags.

Just about all I shoot is the cheap bulk ammo and the only problem I have had was because of a defective pmag.

I found the same thing. I don't use the stock mag anymore. Would create stoppages 50% of the time, with or without the brass catcher.

Over 1000 rounds now and maybe 5 misfeeds - but I use a brass catcher, so it could be that.

Mine feeds everything, about six different brands, without a hitch. It just won't shoot under about 4 MOA. Aside from that...
