M&P 15 Tactical Scope

I have a tactical rifle set up now and enjoy target shooting with it, I have it outfitted with an Aimpoint PRO Red Dot which it great for playing around with targets, however I have a need to use this rifle for coyote shooting on property I own in Maine. They are getting out of control and have killed my turkeys and deer. I recently saw several different coyotes come into my meadows in the middle of the day, they were hunting the fields for mice or voles and they didn't seem to be bothered by me working outside my cabin. I assume they have a den nearby. They clearly saw me and watched me for about seven minutes until my dog started barking at them. I need to buy a scope that gives me enough magnification for a clean shot at 200+ yards. When ever they come out into the fields, it is between 150 - 250 yards away from my cabin. Any recommendations based on your experience?

I am retired Ford worker, but now work part time in a gun shop, a lot of guys have good luck with a Nikon 5.56/223 scope, cost is about $179
decent scope for the $$

If your budget allows.......look at a bolt gun.....CZ 527s several styles are available..... from carbines to American's, Varmints and FS/Mannlichers.....3 and 5 round detachable box magazines...............

in .223/5.56...............scope to match...... my FS/mannlicher wears a little Leupold 1-5x20 scope.... my American is topped with a 3-9.

I don't know about Maine.... well I hear they have great lobster rolls.....

just suggesting ...... a Bolt gun... for hunting................

Nothing wrong with using a AR for hunting in Maine. At 300 yards I would be looking at the PA 1x6 scope. They are back in stock and I finally got one. Nice set up for the price.

Looks into vortex and Nikon options. I think Nikon has an m223 variable power scope. I'd go for a 1-4 or 1-6. Primary Arms is having a sale on the vortex crossfire II scope at the moment. As good as optics from primary arms sound (quality and price) I'd steer clear from them as they have made it publicly know that their optics aren't for "duty" use and have a limited 1-2 year warranty. For around the same price you will get a lifetime warranty from Nikon and vortex.

I have the Vortex Crossfire II 3-9x50 mounted on my MP TS and it as great scope for the price.
With my aging eyes, it's nice to see out past a few hundred yards.

In the $200 price range of the Crossfire, no optic is duty worthy.

The difference with a scope having a Primary Arms label compared to Vortex or any other scope in that price range, is that the guy who sells them is honest about it.

Ditto.......

A "tacticooool" look is one thing....... IMHO "duty use" starts at the Aimpoint PRO at $450 .................just my opinion.....YMMV!

Why a scope? I'm hitting coyotes 200-300 yards out with only a red dot.

You can get a Nikon P223 3x9x40mm scope for less than $200 and they are great AR scopes and were designed for the AR-15. I believe they are on sale this weekend at Midway for $169.

I have 2 of them on AR's and they are bright and clear scopes with easy to adjust turrets.
