I just purchased a Troy VTAC Alpha 15" for my M & P 15T but unfortunately it does not fit due to a metallic ring (a replacement for the D-ring?) that is attached to the upper to through which the gas tube runs. The ring is about as wide as the VTAC handguard. The factory quad rail attaches to this metallic ring with x4 screws.
I called Smith and Wesson, told them what I was planning to buy and the model of AR I have, and they told me that this rail would fit fine. Troy said the same. This is not the case, however.
Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I should proceed? If it is absolutely impossible to mount this, then I'll just save it for another Ar I'm planning to build. Thanks in advance.
