I took the M&P 2.0 4.6” 10mm to the range today along with a few others. Ran 10 mags (150 rounds) through it; I lost count of my total round count, but I’m probably between 1500 and 2K. I was shooting 180 gr. Berry’s plated over 10.3 grains Longshot. No hiccups at all, this pistol has impressed me with its reliability. I know others have had feeding and mag drop issues, but I must have gotten lucky with mine. I did, however have a problem with my Holosun optic. About halfway through my mags, the battery and door popped out of its spot. That tiny little screw was lost forever! I made do with a piece of masking tape for the remainder of shooting. I hope I can pick up a new screw from Holosun. PSA to everyone…don’t forget about your battery door screw…make sure it’s tight from time to time.

I’ve read a lot of complaints about the 10mm M&P. Mine is also the 4.6” version, with safety. It’s been a good gun for me, but I haven’t fired it as much as you have yours. My handloads are fairly mild - a 180 gr. LFN-TC style bullet at about 1100 FPS. Comfortable gun to shoot at that power level. It might cause all kinds of trouble with bear-blaster loads. I wouldn’t know. :D

I'm in the M&P 10mm 2.0 fan club, too. My 4.6" has 500+ rounds of various factory ammo through it with no issues whatsoever. I've got 3 magazines, and they've all worked flawlessly. I'm now confident that my pistol is dependable for any purpose. I also have a Holosun (507C) mounted on mine, and it did loosen slightly the last time out. I just had to carefully retighten the screws, and zero it in. I'm still using the S&W factory plastic plate, but if the screws loosen again, I may decide to get a C&H metal plate. Thanks for the heads up about battery tray. Enjoy!

Mine sheared the screws at around 1K rounds IIRC, and I had to send it back to S&W. Quick turnaround and I got a C&H plate, screws from McMaster-Carr, and blue Loctite and it’s been good ever since. I marked the top of the screws and a spot on the optic as a reference to see if the screws start to back out. It’s when they loosen and are exposed to the shear force of the slide cycling that they will break.

Hell yeah

I am also in the lucky group of flawless performance in my m&p 10mm. I'm glad to start seeing more people share the same experience I've had with it. My 4.6" has around 1k rounds through it now with no hiccups. I've even put the terrible RIP rounds(115gr@1220fps) through it as a true test and it are em up no problem. I've also put 220gr Underwood hardcast(1200fps) loads through it without any issue. I love this little beast. I probably wont ever mount an optic on it, but it's one of those guns I just dont feel the need to change in any way. Makes me want the PC version much more, but I think I'd take the .45 version over the 10mm in that case.

Where did you get your load data?

10.3 grains LS with a 180 gr plated bullet?
That is a potent load!

Just checked my notes…that should be 9.3 grains. I went just under the max for 180 grain jacketed in my Lee manual which is 9.5 grains.

Sounds better!:D Still a stout load

I just shot my SA XDm yesterday for the first time (sold my Glock) Used 180 gr FMJFN with 7.3 Auto Comp. I used to use Long Shot. I need to find a wimp load! :)To old for this and have not been shooting for a long time!

I don't mean to nit-pick, but black electrical tape would look more tactical than masking tape... ;)

Thanks for sharing that experience. I am about to take my 4" 10mm to the range with the just-installed Holosun. I will keep an eye on the battery screw, too!

I also have a 4.6" 10mm and I have not had one bit of trouble with mine. Picked it up used for a good price. I have put almost 150 rounds through it. Don't know the the total round count.

Groo here
Just got a 10PC 5.6 inch No Problems at All!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am starting to think the mag drop and feed problems are caused by that @#$%^&^%$%^^ Thumb high/forward hold everyone wants to show.
The hold puts the thumbs too close to the slide causing rubbing/ timing problems and the fleshy part of the support hand too close to the mag release...
Add to that , many are use to "mouse guns"[ aka 9mm] not heaver kicking guns and bad things happen..
Look closely to the vids on the "tube" and you see the thumbs slide up , the support hand cover the mag button, or when shooting one handed ,
the shooter regrip the gun after each shot and get "real" close to the mag release...

Grip milkers on youtube drive me nuts. They are usually people trying to use a typical IPSC thumbs forward grip but lacking the hand strength to do it properly. There's a reason many self defense classes favor the thumbs down grip, AKA crush grip. More people can achieve a consistent grip with that method and it keeps your thumbs away from the slide and the various other controls.

The other grip thing that utterly baffles me is those that look like they are putting the web of their hand on the back of the tang rather than under it. I cannot tell if they are actually doing this or it's a trick of the light created by the shooter having particularly fleshy hands. Complaints of hammer and slide bite follow, which just means they are holding it wrong IMHO.

Thank you - - was just looking for info on this model!

Thank you for the post and info on your range experiences with your model handgun. I was going to post a question, which is shows below, but you have answered it at least partially so many thanks. Also, i was going to ask if your Holosun was the HS507K X2.
My question was going to be as follows:
Greetings to all! Need a little guidance. Was planning on trading in my G19.5 but am not sure I should. My intent was to trade in the 9mm in favor of the S&W, M&P, M2.0, 10mm, optics ready, with manual safety, and the 4.6” barrel. However noting several videos on the web, the shooters were complaining about reliability; specifically failure to feed properly. So, now I am concerned that there might be some reliability issues with that model. On the other hand, the loading problems could have been due to poor ammo.
In the event you might have some first hand experience with that model, could you pass on some of your results during range fire. Also, there was mention of the striker pin breaking during dry-fire. I am not that worried about the striker issue as I always use a laser training cartridge, or snap caps, for dry-fire but am concerned about what other issues there might be with this model handgun.
Any help or info will be most appreciated. Have a great and safe day.

Yeah, I know…but that’s what was available at the range. Each lane has a roll of masking tape to tape your target to the cardboard.

Dump the Glock and get the S&W! I have the exact same model M&P and Holosun you describe. After the break in period, mine has been flawless. For dry fire, I use an iTarget laser cartridge. I’m approaching 2K round count with almost all of them fairly hot hand loads. I don’t know the reason some have issues with their M&Ps, but they are documented.

Many thanks!!!

I just needed a slight nudge in favor of the M&P so that is what i am going to do. One last question. doing a little research on tritium night sights. Do you know of a model of night sights that would fit the 10mm M2.0 and allow for co-witnessing? I have had no luck finding anything that would fit the 10mm. Also, perhaps when migrating to a 10mm, shooters don't worry much about co-witnessing. Never owned a 10mm so i am totally ignorant about what is available in tritium night sights. Thanks and have a great and a safe day, Sir.

Take a look at these:

403 Forbidden

Edit to add: I don’t know why it comes up “403 Forbidden”, but it goes to Trijicon suppressor height M&P 2.0 sights.

Do think that as time has passed, maybe the kinks have been worked on such that it's a lean mean shooting machine now?
