I currently EDC a shield 9 but am thinking of going to M&P 2.0C or the Shield 45 reason being I'am looking for better accuracy from 15 yards or more I currently have the M&P 9C 1.0 and shoot it better the I do my Shield but like the grip better on the 2.0 and the 45. What I was wondering if any of you have either the M&P 2.0C or the Shield 45 or both and which you thing is the more accurate at 15 yards or more? I know what some think about combat distances being 7 to 10 yards and thats fine I just prefer accuracy beyond that and at this point just interested in these two choices.
And Thanks for any help.

An Apex trigger kit that removes overtravel will improve accuracy. IMHO

I have Apex in all 3 of my M&P. The new M2.0 c is my fav. It has some pre travel but almost no over travel and break at 4.5 lbs.

The CORE PC has stock trigger but Apex springs with no overtravel and only pre travel is because of the hinged trigger. Breaks at 2.75 lbs. Vortex Razor red dot.

The Shield has virtually not pre or over travel and breaks at 4.75 lbs. has factory green laser. Dry firing with laser really show how much movement there is after the trigger breaks. No overtravel show virtually no movement after break.

Cheers

Philip

I'm assuming you are referring to a 2.0C in 9mm being there aren't any 2.0C 45s listed?

I own an M&P9C, which is apexed w/ a Storm Lake barrel. Also own a Shield 45 which only has an apex trigger, the rest polished up just fine, no need for any of the other parts. While I like the 9C, I absolutely prefer my FNS-9C to it and prefer my Shield 45 to either. The thinner grip seems to be a bit more ergo-dynamic than the shorter double stack mag grip. Given that, I have no problem keeping 95% of my shots in a 4" circle at 25 yards with the Shield 45. It just plain shoots with the loads I run through it (Zero 185 JHP @ ~ 900 fps and PMC 185 JHPs).

Thats the kind of accuracy I am looking for for my EDC.

I have the Shield 45 and I found it to be more accurate than my mid-size M&P 45, which I attribute at least partially to the new upgraded trigger which the factory is putting in the Shield 45. As many owners have indicated here on this forum, the Shield 45 is amazingly accurate out of the box, and I have to agree. If you get the Shield 45, there's a good chance you may not even need a third party trigger.

I have a Shield 45, and I think it has the best trigger of any gun I've owned (other than 1911s, of course...and as good of some of those I've owned.) I see no need for any trigger work on it, except for pulling it. ;)

As a person who bought a Performance Center .45 SHIELD for the so called "enhanced trigger" and the fiber optic sights.

Well..I can't see the green fiber optic sight that well, and the trigger isn't so great to justify the extra $80.00 cost.

Recoil is tamed abit by the ports, but you are limited as to what ammo you can buy i.e. Blazer Brass, which is the cheapest .45 ACP that I can
practice with.

My XD MOD 2 Sub-Compact .45 has an excellent rigger, and no issues with any ammo.

That said. I do believe that my .45 PC Shield will be moving on and I'll be
picking up a 2.0 full-sized or the 2.0 Compact in 9mm, if not a PPQ 9mm
or even a CZ P10-C.

It would be fun to see how many rounds each of them would take before issues pop up.

My M&P 357 Compact's trigger broke @450 or so rounds.
S&W was quick to repair it though.

I recall that it had a far better trigger than this PC gun.

I do know that one video tester had problems from round 2 with his
full-sized 2.0 and that was redeemed by the 2.0 Compact.

Years ago I'd be one to modify a trigger or other area of a gun.

Not so these days..so Apex or any other modification/part is out of the
question.

I'm sure that I'm not alone in this thinking.

I also see that the 2.0s have varied with each gun I've handed locally.

I shoot my Shield 45 really good and right out of the box I was surprise on how accuracy it was right out the box but then again my 2.0 compact in accuracy also.

Would you mind taking a picture of the two?
I want to see the size difference.

Here is a quick pick of my 2, I have the 7 round magazine in the 45:

MP 45 vs MP 2.0 9mm

I have a first gen Shield 9, a Shield 45 and a MP9 2.0 Compact. I am extremely trigger sensitive, a trigger snob, I admit it. Professional writers and reviewers agree that a good trigger will increase almost any guns accuracy, thats a fact. Most guns will shoot more accuratley than the operator. If you want to improve your accuracy, get a soild firearm, shoot good ammo and practice, practice, practice.

All of that being said, my Shield 9 which is in the rotation for EDC had one of the worst triggers I have ever experienced. It was long and felt like plastic and metal were grinding together inside as the trigger broke at around 8lbs. I immediately yanked it out and put an Apex trigger in it along with a set of Trijicon HDXRs. Totally different gun now, it now smoothly breaks at 3.75 lbs and its accuracy went way up, and so did my confidence in is firearm.

Then a few months later I picked up a like new used Shield 45. Its trigger was much better than the 9. The 45 didn’t have any of the grittiness that the nine had and it was a better shooter right out of the box. The trigger was still a little heavy (5.5lbs) so I installed an Apex trigger and a set of Trijicon sights in it too. Now it is a real shooter. With the right 230 ammo it will reward the operator with really tight groups.

When the 2.0 Compact came out, I couldn’t wait. So I ordered one as soon as I saw one available online. I have had the 2.0 Compact for about 2 months now. I love the ergonomics but was surprised at how big it feels compared to my Shields. It may be a compact but it feels full size to me. Right out the box it was a shooter. The longer barrell and sight radius made it point more naturally and at the range it showed. My only complaints about the trigger was that it is hinged(which pinches my finger) and it broke really late. It wasn’t all that heavy as it broke right around 5lbs but it took sooo long to get there. So when Apex came out with a Forward Set Sear Flat Faced kit I was in! I found the 3 dot factory sights ok but since I had to remove the rear anyways Tijicon HDXRs were going on this bad boy too. I have since been to range twice since making my upgrades to the 2.0 Compact. The first trip was to shoot paper it boy did it not disappoint. Very tight groups by all who shot it. The trigger breaks much earlier than before with very little pre travel, right at 4 lbs.,so much bettter than before. I ran PPU 115 grain, Freedom Munitions 124 and 135 grain, and some Speer Lawman 147 grain. All shot dead nuts straight point to aim. I think it prefered the heavier bullets a little bit more. Everyone at the range who picked it up shot extremely well with it. Next, I stopped by a little outdoor range yesterday to try a little steel shooting. The big dot orange sight and the short sweet trigger made it easy for my tired eyes to to start ringing those plates like ringing a bell. I have about 500 rounds thru the 2.0 Compact with zero malfunctions. I can’t wait to get back to the range and shoot it! It is the most excited I have been about a pistol in a while!

Choosing between the Shield 45 and the 2.0 Compact is subjective much like my opinion of all three of my MP pistols. I sincerely believe that the 2.0 is the best shooter and all my friends who have shot it would agree. You really need to see if you can comfortably conceal and carry the 2.0 Compact. If you can its a no brainer. If you are ever in Alabama you are more than welcome to shoot mine. I love my 2.0 Compact!

With the shield its 6 inches at ten yards at 15 yards maybe 12 inches thats all standing off hand, I may try a trigger kit and sights I feel thats part of the problem plus myself I know its more capable they I am I would like 3 inch groups at 15 & 20 yards. ( I don't really like to alter my guns except maybe the sights ) Thanks to all.
(plus if you have to do a trigger kit and sights you have the price of a new gun)

If you are getting 12" groups at 15 yards I would recommend a session with an instructor, then maybe 1000 rounds of practice. I think you will find the Shield is more than capable of 3" at 15 yards with factory ammo. I would recommend 124 gr. ammo.

I'm not a fan of changing out parts either.

I never measured the groupings on my Shield but I don't remember it being all that accurate but definitely NOT 6 inches at 10 yards.

I ori had the Glock 43 and wasn't very happy with the short thin grip so I bought a shield. This is one of the reasons I say that it's a bad idea to buy a gun based on how it feels. While the Shield feels better the Glock shoots better (for me).

Picture of shooting both side by side.
Glock on the left, Shield on the right.

Top target 7 yards
Middle 15 yards
Bottom 25 yards

I am going to try some 124 gr. pick up some recently would like to try some 147 gr. also all I've shot is 115 gr. I only shoot factory ammo I might be getting a little better then 12 inches at fifteen yards and I have shot hundred's maybe even over a thousand rd.
Thanks

I agree with Mikes250R. I have a Shield 9 that has had a trigger job and changed out sights. It is pretty accurate. I have shot a 100 yd plate with it repeatedly so It is not the gun. I would definitely look at a 2.0 Compact for the increased firepower and longer sight radius. I never liked the compact 1.0 because of the shortened grip and it felt fat in my hand. I was also going to suggest the new Apex Flatty Trigger. Everything I have read about it sounds wonderful. I just putchased a CZ P10C and am trying that out. I want to try out a M&P 2.0 Compact and a FN 509 as an alternative to my Block 19.

Marshal tom its too bad you are in Colorado or you could try out my 2.0 Compact! One thing I failed to mention is that my Shield 9mm point of aim shifts a little with different grain bullets. For example, 115 grain shoots a little low, 124 and 135 grain about even, and 147 grain a little high. It’s not much but I do have to adjust my hold slightly. I mostly shoot 115 grain bullets and have to put the front sight on top of the target, whereas with other heavier loads I shoot thru the front sight.
