If I understand correctly, the M&P 2.0 Compact will accept any magazine that fits the full size M&P. It will stick out, but it will fit.

Caveat: this is what I understand; I do not own a 2.0 Compact.

S&W shows the 10 round version of the M&P9 2.0 Compact on their website so there should be 10 round magazines available. There are some available on Ebay: Smith & Wesson M&P 9 M2.0 Compact 9mm 10-Round Magazine 3011499 22188878615 | eBay

The 2.0 compact will accept any magazine designed for the 1.0 full size, 2.0 full size and 2.0 compact.

It will not work with magazines designed for the 1.0 compact or 2.0 subcompact. They are too short and will not latch into place.

S&W makes 10 round magazines for all variations of its M&P line so you will have to be careful about which size you choose.

When they came out with the 2.0 series they changed what they call a compact. With the 1.0 guns they had a full size gun with a standard capacity of 17 rounds of 9mm and a compact which a standard capacity magazine of 12rounds.

When they came out with the 2.0 guns they introduced a new size with a 15 round capacity and called it compact.

2.0 full size = 1.0 full size
2.0 compact - No comparable 1.0 gun
2.0 subcompact = 1.0 compact

Yes, the gun and magazines are the same. But why would you want to?

The 2 compact comes with spacers for that void. A nice touch for those 1 full size owners.

No they do not accept the 10 round magazines. They will accept longer magazines but not shorter ones. The grip on the Compact 2.0 is too long for the 10 round magazines. They will accept the 12, 15 and 17 round magazines that have the plug in them to prevent using more than 10 rounds in those states that limit the capacity you are allowed to use. The compact 2.0 has a longer grip than the compact 1.0 so a shorter magazine will not fit it.

S&W doesn't make a 9mm M&P with a grip so short the full capacity magazine only holds 10 rounds. Even the subcompact holds 12 rounds. But they do make 10 round versions of the subcompact, compact and full size magazines for states that limit magazine capacity.

So as long as the OP buys a 10 round magazine made for the compact or full size gun it will work. Although having a full size 10 round magazine sticking out instead of buying the flush fitting 10 round magazines meant for the compact would be silly. But you are correct that the 10 round magazines designed for the subcompact would not work.

If the he has a 2.0 compact and is limited to 10 rounds the magazine the OP want is S&W part number 3011499, UPC 022188878615 . Google either of those numbers to find the right magazine. But this being 2021 good luck finding them in stock.

They sure have made it confusing for those not real familiar with M&Ps. Use caution when ordering holsters, you might not get what you want.

I think they did to be consistent with how Glock, Sig and other companies label their guns. But yes, it can be confusing.

I have 3 10 round magazines that fit my M&P 2 compact 4" with 5" height, that also can use 15 round magazines. Maybe you, me and the OP are talking about different things. I assume he has 15 round magazines and can only find 10 round ones for sale. These are made for 10 round restricted states like mine. You may be talking about the 2 subcompact.

I bought one today at my local shop. They had a bunch of FS ones. I found this in a stack of the FS mags. It may have been the only one or more may have been mixed in.

Notice nothing on it says compact, so confusing if you don't know the part #.

It sure is.

Buying a magazine should not require a research project. Putting "10 round magazine for 9mm 2.0 Compact" on the label would have been an easy no-cost way to eliminate any confusion.

Sad but true. Two factors need consideration.

First, magazine length. Full Size, Compact, Subcompact, V 1.0, V 2.0.

Next Capacity, 17 rounds, 15 rounds, 12 rounds, 10 rounds.

State Compliance drives another axis on the matrix.

I have a fullsize 1.0 (17 round length) that only hold 10 rounds.

I have a 1.0 Compact (in 2.0 speak, it a subcompact) that holds only 10 rounds (12 rounds in free states).

There are full size mags (17 round length) that only hold 15 rounds for state compliance (e.g. Colorado).

So not all M&P 10 rounds mags fit all M&Ps.

It's up to you to determine what's the right mag for your firearm given any state restriction. Having said that, that's why we're here.

Throwing my 2 cents in here. From a person who owned a 1.0 compact (which many people think is the shield, but definitely not) to now a 2.0 compact, I had left over 10 round magazines. What I did was the following:

It came out to be a very nice CA legal setup. From the looks of the base plates, it'd work with out the magwell too.
