I'm going to be purchasing an MP9 soon, my decision right now is between a new 2.0 and an original with Apex upgrades. Which is better, for those who have shot both? Also, I've looked at the Apex site, and all the options are kind of overwhelming. I'm looking to set it up for defensive use, possibly CCW, not competition, I'm sure that makes a difference.

Guess my question would be: have you shot a 1.0 in stock form?
I'd venture to say I am not the only one who has a stock 1.0 i that is fine with it's internals (i'm not one to modify any gun I own); though I have read from those who add Apex parts immediately.

My answer to the poll would be 2.0; it has other upgrades besides some trigger work and again for me i prefer to keep my stuff stock and warranted. In fact I am considering adding a 2.0 in FDE......

All my 1.0 guns have apex parts, they work and shoot great, have no interest on getting a 2.0, but heard it has better trigger so it is probably it doesn't need any apex parts.
For your purpose the duty carry kit is the most appropriate.
Don't anticipate shoot the gun first and decide for yourself if it needs some upgrades.

Well if you are using it for defense, Apex has Duty/ Carry kits for the 1.0 and the 2.0 and they advertise on their web page that their Duty/ Carry kits pull at about 5.0-5.5lbs. If the 1.0 already has an Apex trigger in it I would find out what trigger kit is installed to make sure its not one of their competition trigger kits which would probably be pulling less than 5.0lbs. Id go for the 2.0 personally

The stock triggers for both versions are trash. The 2.0 is definitely better, but that's really not saying anything - the first version was terrible.

I had an M&P 1.0 .40 cal. and after I shot the 2.0 I couldn't get my 1.0 sold fast enough!
My 2.0 .40 cal. trigger is AWESOME! I agree with most are saying here, buy the 2.0! ;)

I find it curious that most posters don't even consider the M&P Pro, which I use and favor over all others for most everything, carry, stock and production competition, advanced defensive training.

I had a student today with an M&P FS, the full APEX with FSS, and extra aggressive home made stippling on the front strap. The gun was OK, but all the short 3 pound trigger did was facilitate his trigger yanking, and his second shot on his version of a double tap was going wide. At 15 yds, a controlled pair is needed to get into the zero down, and just yanking a light trigger twice won't do it.

Picking up my first Pro series gun next week!

I haven't yet shot a M&P 2.0 so I can't really comment on how well they shoot compared to the original M&P with Apex parts.
But in seeing these comments it seems that many are forgetting that the 2.0 features several other improvements over the original. Like the improved texturing on the grips, the addition of 4 palmswell inserts to customize the grip to your hand, and the new stainless steel chassis. And that doesn't even include the new trigger, said to be a big improvement.
I don't know how the Apex equipped original M&P's trigger compares to the 2.0's trigger, but I would also consider all the other improvements made to the 2.0 and not base my consideration on the trigger only. There's more to a great pistol than just the trigger.
After all you can always add the Apex parts to a 2.0 if it's necessary. You can't add the new steel chassis and some of the other 2.0 improvements to the original. It's possible that you might not even need to add new triggers parts to the 2.0.

I would go with the 2.0. They had an M&P range day at the range I belong to on Saturday. I shot the 40 and 9mm 2.0. I own a PC ported 9mm, with the Apex...and I thought the 2.0 was a nice improvement. Myself, I would probably put the Apex into the 2.0 anyway, because I would like an even lighter pull, but the trigger on the 2.0 is better than the stock PC IMO. The 2.0 also seems to shoot softer, not that the 1.0 isn't soft enough. I think the better feel is due to the new mnore full chassis.

Bottom line is the 1.0 is a good gun. but the 2.0 is the new improved model (and IMO it really is improved, not just hype)...why not take advantage of it.

The M2.0 is nice, but not as nice as my Apex equipped M1.0.

Also, a few years back I was meeting with my state's Attorney General. We got to talking about guns and I asked if there was ever an instance when a shooter, who was otherwise justified, was found to be criminally or civilly unjustified or liable because of an aftermarket or gunsmith tuned trigger, using reloaded defensive ammo, or related factor. It peaked his curiosity and he assigned a deputy to investigate. He called me a few weeks later to say, never happened. He contacted other states and those who responded said it had never happened there either. Stay out of gun hating states and don't have some laser etch "I am going to kill you" on the muzzle and you have nothing to worry about.

That depends on what you're comparing it to. Both triggers are fine for a $500 gun. But if you're comparing it to a tuned competition 1911, yeah, they're ****.

I have fired the stock triggers and Apex triggers. The Apex is better.

There are things I like about the 2.0, but not so much that I'd dump my original with the Apex upgrade. So, I'd vote for the original with the Apex upgrade and save a few dollars.

The 3 2.0's I have dry fired here locally have not impressed me with the triggers. They are better but they still suck. Mostly because the hinged trigger sucks.
The only thing the 2.0 has that interests me is the stippling. Apex is still far superior.

I have the 9MM Pro 5 inch and the 2.0 FDE 5 inch. I installed the Apex sear in both and the triggers are about the same in feel. The Pro fires at 4 lbs. 8 oz and the 2.0 at 4 lbs. 6 oz. The Pro's accuracy is a little better because of the Apex barrel, but I just ordered the Apex barrel for the FDE; it should put them on par. However, the FDE has a little better feel with the exaggerated texture and I can come back on target easier with the lesser felt recoil. I use both in NRA Outdoor Action Pistol, Production Class.

Well, yeah, 1911's are a different game entirely.

In stock forms, the XDM and Glock both run laps around the M&P. With aftermarket parts, I think the Apex is just barely edged out by the XDM (Powder River) and both are comfortably better than a variety of Glock mods (Ghost, Overwatch, Lone Wolf, etc).

Just my 2 cents.

Saying that a Glock trigger is better than the M&P is like saying Toyota is better than Honda. Same, but just a tiny bit different. It boils down to personality. I like the M&P better than the Glock. Meh, just not enough different to matter really.

Yes, the Glock has a better reset, but that only comes into play after the shot. It's the shot I'm concerned with.
