Some sites show this as a .357mag but when I inquired at gun shows people said there is only S&W 357Sig in a semi-auto pistol.

It's a .357 Sig, or what S&W now refers to as the .357 Auto. The only current production .357 mag auto loader I am aware of is by Desert Eagle.
