First of all, I love this gun. but......

I just sent my new 22 Compact into S&W as it was shooting really high no matter how much I adjusted the rear site. I have about 300 rounds through it and had two other experienced shooters fire the pistol at the range just to make sure it wasn't me. They all experienced the gun shooting high groups.

I was surprised to learn that S&W replaced the barrel. I was just curious if anybody else had this happen with their new 22 compact.

I'm looking forward to having my gun back that hopefully now shoots straight.

Let me know your experience.

Although mine is very accurate, and I have shot thousands of rounds through it, the finish/machining on the inside of the barrel is far from stellar. If you search you will find others with ugly rifling as well.

Mine seems fine just not happy with my results. I'll pay closer attention next time out the with .22 compact.

Over a thousand rounds through mine since purchase just over a month ago. Not a hitch incurred, no apparent defects. Great gun.

I don't have a Compact but I do have a 2" 34 that shoots way high. I have found the lighter the bullet, the closer to POA. Stingers are almost dead on along with federal 31 gr hp's and Aguila hyper velocity. The 36 gr hp's are still very high but better than 40 gr. 40 gr is almost a foot high at 10 yds. Joe

Does anyone know what could be wrong with the barrel from the manufacturing process that would cause it to need to be replaced?

It seems to me that the machining process should be pretty consistent - no?

Just curious.
