I have a M&P22 that I've had for 9 years. Have about 8000 rounds thru it. It has been pretty reliable. My last range trip, I had many failure to fires. I'm talking like 7 in a row Then it would fire a couple, then do it again. tried with different mags and ammo and the same. It would cycle, pull the trigger, hear the click of the hammer and nothing. I would rack the slide and same thing would happen. It was cleaned and oiled. First time it has done this. Would like to know what I should check. EDIT UPDATE: Took it apart a small piece fell out, looks to be a small piece of the rail. I have inclosed pics. Thinking something has just worn out. I'm assuming its out of warranty, got it in 2012. Would it be worth it to send it in. Thanks in advance for any advise. Jesse.

Check the firing pin and firing pin spring, either may have given up and need replacement.

just a heads up; If you do send the pistol back to S&W and they deem it needs replacement, they will send you a M&P 22 compact, not the full size. The full size one isn't in their catalogue anymore.

I had the same thing happen to me. I contacted S&W. I sent it to them. I received a new M&P 22 Full Size @ 2 months later. Not repairable. Give them a call. It is a fun gun to shoot. This was a year ago.
