I have a question about the 340 revolver.

The regular grips that come with the regular, "non-crimson trace grip" 340 are very difficult to use with speedloaders. The top of the grip blocks the speedloader from going directly in, you have to come in at a 10-20 degree angle with the loader and hope you're lined up perfectly, but it's not fast and about 25% of the time the loader just spills the rounds on the ground.

My question: Is the Crimson Trace grip any better in this regard, or is it just as bad with speedloaders?

If the crimson trace is no better, I will look for a pair of old uncle mike's boot grips. If it is, I will make the upgrade to the Crimson Trace.

PS: I am using HKS 36 speedloaders

I have successfully used Bianchi Comp II speedloaders with a CT equipped 340PD.

I have two J-frames with CT grips; a 640 with CT LG-405's and a 638 with CT LG-105's (just installed this last set) and they both work with my HKS speedloaders. I'm not familiar with the factory grips on the 340, but the ones that came on the 638 did interfere with my speedloaders. The old set of Uncle Mikes on my model 49 also works just fine with speedloaders.

The factory ones that was on the 638 until a little while ago:

I've used Jet Loaders with excellent results. They're taller than the HKS, similar to my Safariland. I have a Crimson Trace at the moment, but I don't recall any issues with the stock grip on my M&P 340.

The old-school factory wood magnas w/a grip adapter from BG Grips work on my J's.
