I have an early 640 .38 Special done by Marc Morganti and an original 40 done by a semi-local gunsmith. Both have magic triggers. I want a 340 but don't necessarily want to pay an additional $200-250 for a trigger job. Does the Military and Police model have any special Performance Center features...like a decent trigger? Thanks.

I don't believe a standard 340 M & P gets any special factory treatment. It would probably be a good idea to examine a potential purchase in person, and in detail - it may have a great trigger right out of the box, or not.

Now they are calling even J-Frame guns M&Ps! First semi-automatics, then rifles, How long will it be before they finally just change the company name to M&P Firearms and be done with any and all pretense it ever was Smith & Wesson?:mad::mad::mad::mad::rolleyes::rolleyes:

Now?

The M&P340 has been around for at least 15 years.

Nov 13 will be a year since I started daily-carrying my M&P 340. I like it for it's fantastic front sight and simple u-notch rear. No lock hole sweetens the looks.
I installed an MCorbo spring kit and it's been a super pocket carry piece.

Mine is the no-lock 340PD in a pocket holster w/a speedstrip in an off pocket.

I have a M340 that I had a gunsmith do a trigger job. When you squeeze the trigger the front site doesn’t move. It is point of aim point of impact at 15yds. I have run 125gr, 130gr, and 158gr through it with no problems. .357mag is a bit of a hand full. My carry ammo is Remington golden saber 38spl +P 125gr. I prefer the M340 over one of LIPSEY UC J-frames.

Been carrying mine for over ten years. I bought it used from a member. It has an exceptionally good trigger. I have no idea if anything was ever done to it or if it was just dry fired a lot. Very smooth. One thing I will say though, I got rid of those boot grips right away and installed Uncle Mikes Combats. They don't print any more than the boots, but they give a lot more to hang onto. All my round butt revolvers get them. They also have about the best sights outside of the 640 PRO.

I've had mine for about 8 years. I put a spring kit in it, but I can't recall which one. I polished a bit also. It's really smooth, and very dependable. I've shot it a ton. I carry in a DeSantis E-Gat slide. It's real easy to forget it's there.
