M&P 40 barrel & Magazine Conversion

I have A M&P 40 2.0 compact with a 4" barrel, and I would like to swap the barrel with a smith & wesson m&p 2.0 9mm luger barrel "4.25 the barrel slightly pokes out a bit. I didn't get the m&p 9mm mag, instead I got the "ets" m&p 2.0 9mm mag 21 round (cheapo) because I rather use .40 for my conceal carry. If I take a few trips to the range and the 9mm has better accuracy or it feels better than I'd definitely opt for a 17 round magazine smith and wesson 9mm and maybe switch when the seasons change from summer to fall. I just want to know if this conversion is safe? are the magazines safe? & has anyone converted there firearm? would appreciate your comments.....Thankyou for taking the time to read, god bless you.

I have done this with a Sig P226 and a S&W 4006TSW. If the parts fit together and dry function, take it to the range and fire it single shot. Still ok? then fire away.

First of all, welcome to the forum from North Carolina and congrats on a fine pistol. Although what you have in mind would probably work, I would recommend purchasing a .40 to 9mm conversion barrel such as one from KKM Precision and then use S&W 9mm magazines. Good luck with your conversion.

Not familiar with aftermarket barrels, I think I rather go with the smith and wesson 9mm 2.0 M&P barrel "4.25

They seem quite compatible, 9mm just pokes out a fingernail.

I have done it with a full size m&p and an m&p 2.0 from 40 cal. to 9mm but I also got a few mags in 9mm for it. Works fine.

I TRIED IT, & WAS BLOWN AWAY BY THE PERFORMANCE! I WAS USING A "ETS" MAG, AND IT PERFORMED FLAWLESSLY WITH NO RECOIL WHATSOEVER. THE 40 CAN KICK LIKE JACKIE & CHUCK NORRIS, SO I WAS VERY SATISFIED WITH THE BARREL SWAP. YES INDEED. I'D LOVE TO TRY THE 357 SIG NEXT, I REALLY WANNA SEE THE PERFORMANCE ON THAT! ALL IN ALL, I LOVE THE M&P 40, IT IS THE BEST INVESTMENT I EVER MADE IN LIFE. NOW I THINKING ABOUT BUYING ANOTHER HANDGUN, BECAUSE I'D LIKE TO HAVE A 9MM, BUT I'M THINKING MORE H&K "I WONDER HOW THEY PERFORM" I LOVE SW M&P, BUT I'M CURIOUS ABOUT THE HK, I LOVE THE DESIGN....ANY INFO ON THOSE WOULD BE APPRECIATED, THANKYOU!
