I currently have an SD40, that I like, except for the trigger weight, which I am currently having replaced. I like the gun and it shoots well. I am contemplating upgrading to the M&P 40 M2.0 5" barrel. I assume that this would be a better built model with a little less recoil with the 5" barrel. Do you think it is worth the extra $$ to replace my SD40?

There are a lot of good police trade M&P 40's out there at cheap prices. Most agencies are going to 9 MM leaving a large surplus. You could probably get one of those for what it would cost to fix the other gun. I paid $269 plus shipping and got a real nice dependable M&P 40.

I agree with this. I bought a first-generation M&P40 police trade in, a KKM 9mm conversion barrel, and an Apex trigger and paid less for all of this than by buying the 2.0 alone.

Where do you find these LE trade ins? ( I only heard of gun broker.)

The KKM conversion barrels are out of stock everywhere I look.

Unless, you did the conversion a 'long' time ago.

Aim surplus has them often, classic firearms gets them in from time to time, and summitgunbroker also gets them from time. Aim surplus actually has Leo trade in 2.0s for sale for $279.95 at the time of this post.

I found mine on GunBroker about 3 months ago. $320/shipped. I ordered my conversion barrel directly from KKM (8 weeks for delivery). I also added some SpeedSights as well.

I finally got to test it out in both calibers and found it to be accurate in 40S&W but incredibly accurate in 9mm. I'm extremely satisfied with the performance, but I need to shoot it a bit more in 40 to get the feel and accuracy that I get from my HK VP40.

May we assume the accuracy in 9mm is down to the KKM barrel? Did it require fitting or did it just drop in? What kind of groups at what range are you seeing?

I really don't know if it had anything to do with the barrel (it's a drop-in conversion). And I wasn't trying for groupings. I was just trying to empty the mags on target as quickly as possible - while shooting at a paper plate at 15 yards. Out of 51 fired rounds of 9mm (3 mags), 49 found paper. With the 40, I ran through 3 mags (45 rounds) and only got 36 hits. I definitely need to do further testing to see if the problem lies with the sight alignment or the user.
