I’ve owned this gun since new. I haven’t shot it for 5 or more years. I still have the box and all the paperwork. The serial number is on the box but I can’t find it on the gun frame no where. What am I missing?

Are you sure it's an M&P? Serial should be on the frame, rt slide, just aft of the slide catch.Smith-and-Wesson-MandP-45C_102568449_106899_3EE23C2B0AA847C0.jpg

Mine looks identical except for the lock and missing serial number. I’ll take and post pics later.

The pic was not mine (I have an M&P 1.0). My serial number is in the same place.

Just on a hunch, look under the rail to see if there's something there.

A pic of the box label (you can block out the serial number) would also help.

All of mine, 2.0s, have the serial number on the right side of the frame just under the forward cocking serrations. There is a small indentation there, so it does not stick out like the proverbial sore thumb.

Do you know how to date your handgun by the info on the box ? If not look it up . M&P 2.0 pistol have been around for 5 years so it might be a 2.0 pistol and the serial number is smaller and the right rail on the right side near the front of the frame .

I have the 9mm with safety and without. I don't really have a preference either way. Got the one with the safety 1st to appease the wife.
