Should have reported sooner, but I bought a used M&P 40c manufactured in 2010 in like-new condition. I think it only had a few hundred rounds through it from the previous owner. It was $400 in California...an absolute steal here. I jumped on it, even though I am not rich, to say the least.
After the ten-day purgatory, I picked it up, lubed it right there in the store/range with old FP-10 (now Weapons Shield) and shot 100 rounds of my absolute favorite factory practice ammo (Speer Lawman 155 and 165 grain) and five rounds of old Remington Golden Saber 165 grain hollows I had on hand. I had zero problems of any sort. It was accurate and easy to shoot for its size. I brought along my old 2nd gen Glock 22 as well for reference and comparison. The little M&P definitely kicked harder, but that is to be expected.
Some notes: when I first tried out the trigger in the store of the FTF transfer, I was a little concerned because it felt a bit gritty. After the range trip and cleaning afterwards though, the trigger feels much much better. Also, I noticed that although the extension on one mag did make it feel more full sized in my hand, during shooting I prefered the normal/non-grip extension mags. They felt more natural to the size of the gun.
Overall impression: I like it and am glad to add it to the family. Many more rounds will be going through this gun in the near future when I can find the time.
