I've seen owners saying that they are getting super accuracy out of the M&P 45on the forum. I just purchased mine and was wondering what everyone is using to get this superb accuracy out of their 45. What distances are you shooting at for determining your accuracy

Congrats on your new M&P.45ACP.

There's certainly no shortage of accurate .45ACP ammo on today's market. One of the most accurate, suitable for self-defense, .45ACP loads I've shot is Nosler Match Grade 230 Grain JHP. If the shooter does his job, the accuracy is outstanding at any distance.

Enjoy your new pistol.

You should also ask what do they define as accurate. It's usually a broad term and if you are new to guns it more often than not going to be you and not the gun or ammo

I'm not new to guns or ammo. I've shot on skeet teams, NYS Flintlock teams and have shot pistols for over 30 years. I shoot once a month at my local club. Most of my experience with accuracy is 25 yards and longer. Just wondering where to start with accurate defense ammo. Trying to cut down on amount of different ammo purchases

I have been told that 25 feet and in is where most SD encouters take place.

I've been reloading and testing loads using the ransom rest for years. The most accurate bullets I've ever loaded were nosler 185 jhp and zero 185 jhp. Not necessarily in that order. This I believe is due to the profile/bullet coefficient.
Either way all I load are 185g jhp/xtp in 45acp . The accuracy is potential of the 185g is amazing.

My MP45 midsize was not very accurate until I got around 400 rounds thru it. Now it shoots anything I feed it with good accuracy. I mostly shoot bulk Federal ammo for now. For self defense I use honady critical defense. It is my fav pistol and just feels right in my hand. Two years ago I bought two full size police trade ins and they shoot just as well however my wife and daughter claimed them.

My M&P 45 will shoot four inches or less at 25 yards with most any ammo (WWB/AE). That's offhand with old eyes. I'm sure the gun shoots better but I've never put it in a rest and tried.

All I load in a 45 is the Zero 185gr JHP. Super accurate, very affordable, and available in bulk quantities. A lot of competitors are using this bullet. All my M&P 45s love them (Shield, compact, and full size).
