I have shied away from Smith autos since they started to make'em from plastic. I have plenty of revolvers and a 669 but was content with my Glocks.
Today I was in the toy store and looked over a M&P .45 and liked what I saw...So I brought it home. It came with two barrels, one of which was threaded for an attachment. I had an Insight M6 laser/flashlight in the safe and it looks right on the M&P. The gun looks and feels rather "big" but I will keep an open mind and take it to the range. So far I like it.

I like mine. Just bought it Saturday 3/10 and went out and fired it Saturday 3/17. I was loving it. I was hitting some very small targets (quarter sized) at about 15 yards.

They are not all plastic and the innards are stainless steel I own a Model 59 to replace the Nickel Plated I had in 1982 and was stolen just to replace it. You will notice from my signature that I am definitely a M&P aficionado 4 of my Smiths' are M&P's soon to be five with a .357 Sig to be delivered tomorrow or Wednesday at the latest I love all my M&P's and you will love the plastic guns as well, just wathch out or like me you will eventually own almost all of them, but I love my pistols so am still considering buying an M&P15 riifle just for the reason that it is an M&P!

Congratulations on your new piece! I first started on M&P autos with their 9 Pro and naturally after loving that, wanted one in .45. I traded my Glock 17 for one and the rest is history. It did have one minor problem, a sharp bur on the extractor that would cause the gun to not go into battery (and also why the guy probably traded it to me). It would actually bite into the case rim and not allow the brass to fully slide underneath the extractor but about 5 minutes and a bit of 400 grit sandpaper and she is 100% 100% of the time.

I LOVE the size of the gun; my previous favorite was the Glock 21 and I actually felt like I had found a gun that was actually big enough to hold on to and while the M&P45 isn't quite as much of a wide-body as the G21, it is still big enough to get both hands on without feeling like you are smothering the gun.

Mine is the older model, full-size with thumb safety, and I can't get over how much I enjoy shooting that gun. It is my primary carry and my primary IDPA gun and it just fits right and works beautifully. Now I want a compact .45 to complement it!

Me too. Congrats on your M&P. About the only thing that fits me better than an M&P is its cousin the Walther P99/PPQ.

I have the 9Pro, and a 40c/night sights and with Storm Lake 9mm barrel. I can add the XGrip to the 40c to full size the grip which makes for a versatile package. I have a Viridian C5L on mine right now.

I'm thinking 45c next, but waiting to see what comes out in April. Maybe there will be a single stack m&P .45 similar to the new Springfield?

The trigger on mine was scratchy at the breaking point and I decided to shoot it and see how many rounds I would need before it "shot in" and got better. I figured on 50-75 rounds. Would you believe it took 10 rounds to smooth up? I am impressed with this pistol.
