Hi
Silly Question Maybe, But are the M&P 45acp mags about the same size as a 1911 mag?? Could I use a magazine carrier for a 1911 mag for the M&P 45 mag's. (i think so) but not sure. I will be picking up a M&P 45 tomorrow and was wondering.
Thanks

mag carrier

Most 1911 magazines are single stacked mags in that each bullet sits on top of the other in the magazine. So the magazine is pretty narrow. M&P .45s are called double stacked and the bullets in the magazine sit at an angle to each other to allow more bullets in the mag. So, M&P mags are considerably wider tha 1911 mags. So, no, the same mag carrier won't fit both. there are some 1911 guns that have double stacked mags, but I figure you weren't talking about that.

Dam, Thanks for the reply, as luck would be i own alot of 1911 mag carrier's. Last question do you know if a holster for a Glock 19/23 would fit the M&P 45c.
Thanks again

I don't have an M&P 45 Compact - I have the full size. Some Glock holsters might fit SOMEWHAT, and some likely will not. I just tried my full size in a High Noon pancake for a Glock 17/22. It would fit after removing the tension screw, but just barely, and its not a great fit, either. The M&P trigger guard is a bit wider than the Glock's. Some of the generic holsters might fit. Blackhawk SERPAs for the Glock 21 also fits the M&P. My M&P was loose in a couple of leather holsters for a G21.

I seriously doubt any of the polymer guns in the market use a standard size mag since each manufacturer designs and make their own guns.

The 1911, on the other hand, is off patent and the specs are generally followed.
