Good afternoon everyone! I am looking for NEW Ideas/options to consider for an M&P 9 2.0 OR Newest Variant. I have a couple of questions to ask my fellow brother's in arms and Armed Citizens. Please let me know the following, if you carry an M&P 9 Full Size 2.0 OR/CORE 4.25" Barrel w/Front Slide Serrations and an Optic;

1) Do you carry On Duty and/or PSD's or EDC?

2) What does your Duty Rig and PSD's/EDC set-up consist of?

3) Have you had any problems with your set-up and or Weapon
itself?

4) Has anyone had any experience with Floyd's Custom Mag-well and Magazine Floor Plates?

Any information is greatly appreciated!

Have a Blessed Day!

Andres

M&P 9 2.0 OR for Duty, and Setup?

Armed citizen here:

I edc a 2.0 compact 4.25” with rmr

Love the set up, i have a iwb holster for summer and owb holster for winter (baggy clothes).

No issues thus far. I have an mp shield also and i added a mag extension for more rounds but now its the same length (top of slide to end of mag) as my big gun with 15 rds so i leave the shield bed side.

No mag well experience.

I edc optics ready compact with holosun and tlr1. Iwb and owb depending on dress and mood. Holster of choice for me is bravo concealment bca3 for both. Son is a deputy and uses mp full-size with optic and x300 light. He caries same set up on and off duty.

Optics Ready M&P9 Compact

Hey Six Gunner, I think you already answered my question - Can a Holosun 507C be mounted on the M&P9 2.0 Optics-Ready Compact without any modification to the M&P? I have a non-optics ready M&P Compact that I really like for EDC, and that I'd like to mount the Holosun to, but getting the slide milled to do that is a very pricey proposition. it seems it would be cheaper to sell it and buy an optics-ready model.

I'm a deputy but my current position is a full-time firearm instructor and I'm one of the primary instructors for our pistol-optic program. I teach with (and my preferred setup is) a 2.0 Optic Ready (full front serrations) 4.25" barrel with an Aimpoint ACRO P-2 on an Aimpoint mount.

Off duty (and If I had to go hastily into the field without time to clean my teaching gun) I carry a compact frame, 4.25" factory direct-mount ACRO slide with an Aimpoint ACRO P-1, a Floyd magwell, and a Streamlight TLR-7A (Duty would be a Surefire X300U with DG switch or Streamlight TLR-1HL with Contour switch)

2) What does your Duty Rig and PSD's/EDC set-up consist of?

Duty Rig: Bianchi Accumold Duty belt with the following (going from 12-o-clock at the buckle clockwise:

Tourniquet Pouch
Key keeper
US Duty Gear US-80 holster
OC pouch
Handcuff case
Handcuff case
Radio
Expandable baton (I hate it but policy requires it... I'd rather just carry my sap)
Open-top mag pouch (my go-to)
Dual flapped mag pouch

My off-duty EDC setup is the M&P direct-mount ACRO in a Vedder holster (I've had a bunch and liked them but this one isn't comfortable over long periods, so I'll probably try a LAS Concealment or JM Custom Kydex holster... I've had good results with both of those on other pistol platforms).

I carry AIWB and I have a separate (JM Custom I believe) mag pouch that is also AIWB opposite the holster. Right front pocket is my "always gun", a Ruger LCP in an "AHolster" pocket holster along with a CRKT Squid folding knife. Right small pocket has an important challenge coin. Left front has my cell phone and a Surefire Stiletto flashlight. left rear has two wallets... one is my normal wallet with money and cards, and the other is my department badge/ID. Right rear is empty and I usually throw my car keys in there when I get out. I carry a Ryker Gear ankle medical kit on my left ankle.

3) Have you had any problems with your set-up and or Weapon
itself?

No problems with my weapon or optics (though I've seen a lot with various weapons and optics). My belt setup is OK, but if I was on patrol full time (it's been a while) I'd change things. For the rare occasion I'm in the field it works.

As far as EDC goes, other than the holster I've been carrying this way for several years and I'm very comfortable with it.

4) Has anyone had any experience with Floyd's Custom Mag-well and Magazine Floor Plates?

I use it on my carry/off-duty gun and really like it. I have both the low profile and longer versions and like both. I use the low profile for carry and the longer one for the reload. I like having the compact frame with the magwell because I can still use standard M&P 17rd magazines with the standard floorplate and the magwell helps lock down and wedge in my grip. Of course, I have mid-size hands, so someone with larger hands would likely not have the same results.

Yep... The 507C uses the type 1 plate on the M&P Optics-Ready models, and you can also get aftermarket plates if yours comes with the plastic version that I'm not as big a fan of (though they do work).

Milling can be economical. I've used Primary Machine and was very happy and I know of people who have used ATEi, Maple Leaf, Jaggerworks (or however it's spelled), and some others, and many of these will do optic cuts for pretty low cost.

Of course, milling limits you to the specific footprint you originally choose, where a more generic pocket/plate system gives you more future options. Either way... Optics are the bomb and I highly recommend getting into the game as soon as possible.

My wife and I have had a m&p 4.25 core since august 2013 for match use but now for fun and HD . The RM02 was removed for a holosun 507c GR X2 and its had a apex FST kit added early on with apex curved trigger and finally an apex gun smith fit barrel that was almost a drop in. Trigger pull weight to 3lb 4oz for my wife and a thumb safety was added . We are both use to 3.5lb triggers and thumb safety do being shooters and CC'ers within 1911's .

Nether of use need a dot optic on a carry gun but one day maybe ?? I also have a M&P 2.0 compact thumb safety 9mm 4" optic ready with the same holosun dot optic on it and my wife has a P365xl optic ready she also carrys some for now and has a K version of the same holosun in the gun safe waiting .

So we both practice with handguns and optics we can carry when needed with the core and the compact .

For now we both carry normal handguns , a lw commander in 45 or M&P 4.25 40 with thumb safetyand apex trigger group . MY wife carrys a kimber ultra 9mm or p365xl 4" OR .

I wear a Comp-Tac iwb hybrid that's 18 years old or a mtac for the m&p that's notched for optic . New one come that way . Wife likes stealth gear Hybrid holsters .

We do not add mag wells or change plates . Practice mags swaps as any thing that add's to grip length hurts your ability to CC well .

Gun problem's or function issues - All practice ammo is home rolled and hp ammo is HST or GD thru underwood and georgia arms and I tend to keep enough in stock. I used georgia arms going back 40 years for hunting then carry ammo . Never had a failure to fire or function out of any ammo .

I also have a DW revolver I hunt with bought in '76 , added a tube type 2moa dot and buehler no drill 1" scope mount in '81 and today it runs a 2moa ultra dot .

Thank you everyone for your experiences and input. I was one of those Instructors who drank the "Glock is The Best" kool-aid for about 20+ years. I always liked the way the M&P Shot, but couldn't stand the trigger, more so the hinged part of it. I have bought and sold a couple of different variants up till now.

A few months ago, While in my local Gun Shop, I saw M&P's saving grace (for me anyway), the newest variant OR with FS and wait, is a flat faced trigger? I picked it up and dry-fired it, with permission of course! The Factory Flat Faced Trigger and actual usable Front Cocking Serrations was what I always thought was what the M&P should have Been. I ordered 2 of them right away for 600.00 each. This newest variant has converted me from 20+ years of Glock to a Proud M&P Enthusiast.

I set mine up with an RMR7 6.5 LED Adjustable DOT and a Insight APL Gen 3. Thinking of putting the Newer Wild Force 2 for the 1000 lumens and little extra weight on the muzzle end of things...Also added the Floyd's Custom "Carry Mag-well and Base-plates. Much faster reloads with no hick-ups! The only problem is I had to switch the mag-release over to the other side of the gun for I am a Southpaw! Now I have to rotate my hand a little bit to release the magazine...

Summary, It has become my NEW GOTO for all Lawful Purposes!!!!!

The front serrations on the later M2.0 OR models are very good. I bought a 4" Compact, 4.25", and a 5" OR and ordered three different variations of the aluminum Apex triggers to be able to see which I liked the best but of course that was a few months before S&W started using the new center blade trigger safety. I haven't had a chance to see one of the new S&W triggers in person yet. If they are a match to the Apex Duty/Carry I might have said I would skip the Apex.
